I believe that Cid wasn't the cause of the collision but that there was a collision between realms allowing Cid to be reincarnated when he first died. Thus earth gained magic while Cid reincarnated.

2023-12-21 11:23:41 +0000 UTCIf you're reading the Manga and not the LN, they took creative liberties with the ending in this episode. It went different in the manga. Source: CH 46 - 48. Maybe they'll show it in the movie but in the Manga Beta warps with him, they explore and then meet up with her and the other resistance fighters. He doesn't show up as Shadow in the manga until much later. However if they're following the LN that's a different story as I haven't read it.

2023-12-21 05:21:05 +0000 UTCMovie up next just announced. This arc is the last half of volume 4 and doesn’t jive with volume 5 fluidly so it doesn’t make sense to put it in a season 3. The movie will adapt the rest of vol 4 and then presumably vol 5 and 6 will be the start of season 3
