He has his power that he hasn’t completely mastered yet, he’s 15, he has his mentor figure, Subaru, he very quickly got a high ranking position for potential royalty. He has the missing parents, tragic backstory and all that, and now he has both the past opponents words haunting him, Elsa, and an overpowered character to strive towards, Reinhard. You know it’s good writing if you can see the character arcs of the side characters almost as clearly as the main character. It really shows just how fleshed out this world is.
