Someone he considered a dear friend and mentor set up EVERYTHING, resulting in the death of his friend, likely the ending of any sort of romantic relationship, AND a permanent changing of his personality and body due to merging with E Soul. At the end the armor clearly suggests this is still Yang Chen, yet his posture is the same as the old E Soul, he has the same breathing problem, and he’s missing an arm. The two of them merged into one when Yang inherited all of Old E Soul’s believers. Also, old E Soul was just as much a victim here. He never cared about his own ranking, he never had any particular interest in stopping Yang Chen, he had nothing to do with the assassination, and then he was betrayed by the person running his own organization from the very beginning. To top it all off, he was forced to lose the fight by his own fans. He knew that lightning attack was too vulnerable and didn’t want to use it, but he had no choice. It was use a flawed technique or steadily bleed supporters to Yang Chen then lose anyways.
