Dang, I'm from Cali and we had specific sciences you took at certain grades unless there was a reason you didn't. And we only had to take 3 years of science. For us, it's Physics in 9th grade, Chemistry in 10th grade, and Biology in 11th grade. You could take a 4th year of science in 12th grade if you wanted to, like AP Biology or AP Physics.
