[Commission] Whatever Works

So, allow me to wax a bit about costume design. ------------------------- When AKO were first created. They were created in their school uniforms. The off-white and lavender blue are iconic and have been used in anime forever as well as just like... being a real thing. Despite Amber, Kat, and Olivia existing living in America and attending an American high school, I wanted to incorporate the anime-esque dress code simply because I personally enjoy it. It makes me think of all the good times I watched anime when I was younger and had more time to sit around and watch things. As AKO developed alongside their classmates, I realized I occasionally wanted to depict them outside of school. The town they live in, Forgery, is a fairly standard east coast American town with plenty of variety for scenes and things to do. But it wouldn't make sense that these girls or their classmates would wear their uniforms outside of school. This meant it was time to put my outfit design skills to the test. To that end, I used a reasonably unconventional tool. The Sims 4. A game I enjoy quite a bit. As well as the rest of the Sims series at large. I'd spend hours designing all of my Sims outfits for each part of the day or season. This was long before I took up art as a hobby. When it came time to give AKO new outfits that could reflect the kinds of people they are in more subtle ways, I decided to start by designing loose representations of them in Sims 4 and playing dress-up in the CAC. The game has a massive amount of clothing, and the best part is that it's all practical everyday clothing. There are fancy and goofy things as well, but modern Americana is the focus. It was perfect. I wanted Amber's clothing to fit her personality and stature. She isn't rich, she's upper middle class if anything. She got her earrings as a Christmas present when she was 13 and her parents finally allowed her to pierce her ears. She's taken fairly good care of them since. As for the rest, cute T-shirts and tight jeans to show off her ass seemed perfectly up her alley as a girl that knows she's pretty and wants everyone else to know it too. I even accessorized with the complementary bracelets (not shown here) she'll sometimes wear. I wanted her outfit to say, "girl next door that's a little out of your league" and I'm happy with how it turned out.
