Nier Replicant is super good.

Mind you I also thought the original version was super good too, but this remaster is also super duper good. It's got everything you could ask for: death, destruction, no hope, friends and loved ones dying around you, constant turmoil, Liam O'Brien, and boar drifting! The perfect video game.

This was one of the first times I ever plopped down for the super duper limited edition version of a game, costing almost $200. Never had I ever had a game that I felt compelled to pay for that sort of price. Most of the time it's because it's a game's initial release. Nothing worse than paying a shit ton of money for a video game that you wind up feeling meh about. And the type of games that I know for a fact I will really enjoy (like Mario) doesn't get those types of releases.

But this is fucking Nier. The game that I have pointed out numerous times I own 5 copies of for various reasons. I was fucking obsessed with the game back when I first played it in 2011. Because I knew exactly what I was getting, I didn't feel too bad for paying it. I will be honest and say that if you aren't a huge Nier fan you wouldn't get anything out of that special edition anyway. You get a couple pines of the grimoires, which are pretty cool and have enough weight that you can do serious damage to someone if you threw it at them. Some soundtracks, which you can probably find online anyway. Then there's a steelbook case, which is the norm these days.

What's neat is it includes the English script for the entire game for you to thumb through. First thing I did when I got it was flipped to the "Weiss! You dumbass!" Kaine speech.

Also the box is super cool. It is now being proudly displayed in my closet!
