On the wedding - my mother booked a surprise opera performance for my brothers wedding. He is not an Opera fan 😂 Never underestimate how people can lose their senses when it comes to big emotional events like that. On the love question, I jokingly texted my friend group the day I met my partner that I'd found my soulmate. We've been together 10 years. Looking back we only lasted those first few years because of those raging chemicals that caused us to stick out a lot of bad behaviour, and if I was going back I don't know if I'd do it again. What's allowed us to thrive these past few years is taking serious looks at ourselves as people, going to therapy and working on our shit individuallt and as a couple because we wanted to be better for ourselves and each other. They're not "the one" but the one I chose and we love each other so much more now than when I was in complete limerance. I asked my dad once how he knew he was in love and he said it was like a spiral where you build up this idea of someone in your head, they shatter that conception and then you learn to love this new notion of them all over again. Each time your love is deeper and more complete. That's really resonated with me, love is made when you go through serious shit together and come out the other side with a deeper appreciation for that person as a whole. I hope that makes sense and OP and their new partner have many happy years together.
