Twin Peaks Turns 30: Damn Good Show

For our first Patreon-exclusive minisode, Randall Colburn and Michael Roffman return to Twin Peaks to celebrate the show's 30th anniversary. Together, they discuss their favorite characters, the three elements of the show they've carried with them all these years, and what we might expect from the series in the future. It's a little left of the dial from our traditional programming in King's Dominion, but we felt there were enough Peaks fans out there to warrant a short discussion. (Sidebar: For some reason, Mike's recording had a slight hiccup. We tried to couch it the best we could. Apologies. It won't happen again.)

Wonderful! More Twin Peaks!!

A few minutes into the episode I thought “oh, this isn’t a very clean recording.” I kept hearing noise....and then a few minutes later I recognized the noises as record static! 😂 Very nice detail! 👌

Thanks Brett. Wish we could have talked longer!

It was a pleasant surprise to see a Twin Peaks episode come through on the feed. The mentions of Lynch during the main King episodes made me wonder if y'all were fans of Twin Peaks. It was great hearing you both talk about Twin Peaks and reflect on its impact over the last thirty years. Thanks for the episode!

I am dying to go to the locales, especially where they found Laura. Would also love to have breakfast at Twede's Cafe.

The Losers' Club

Absolutely. Maybe in time for the expanded version of the soundrack.

Awesome episode. Made me want to rewatch the show. Look forward to hearing you guys opinions on a wider variety of pop culture. Maybe you could do an episode on my all-time favorite horror film: the Thing.

This was awesome. Reminded me of when my roommates and I took a day trip to visit North Bend and as well as film location of Laura Palmer’s house in Everett, WA where of The Return ended. We were shocked when the owner of the house rolled up in her car with plates that read TREMOND, and even more shocked when the owner stepped out and it was the woman who played her in the finale. We were too nervous/polite to approach her since it looked like she had just gotten back from the grocery store, but we later saw on reddit, I believe, that she often shows people around the inside of the house when asked about the show. Hoping for Season 4! I always keep my eyes peeled when work takes me to North Bend 👀

You are so right when you say lynch has an unfiltered vision! I really think part of what makes him a great filmmaker is him being an artist. Not that film isn't an art, but his training in painting and photography and drawing all seem to lend itself to a more unique way of creating movies. It reminds me a lot of what I have done while in school for the arts, and it's really inspiring to see work being made in a commercial setting that still has so much artistic oomph behind it.

Sammy

oh yessss id love to hear y'all talk about nbc hannibal... that is absolutely my favorite show.

Sammy

Not too many spoilers.

I agree with Damien and Bryant. Of course, we are al here for Sai King, but talks like this on other genre books, shows, movies, etc., are a great idea. Given this, I have a confession: I have not watched Twin Peaks (please, do not take my Loser card). I am guessing this pod will hit heavy on spoiler territory for the show and The Return. Would I be right to come back to this one after my binge?

Billy Schwennsen

Thanks Bryant! Apologies for the pop in the track. :(

The Losers' Club

This can be arranged.

The Losers' Club

Agreed. And even though we have Halloweenies, I'd love to hear special episodes with the Losers's take on other legendary horror/thriller works, specifically the Thomas Harris/ Hannibal novels & adaptations 👍

Damien Kiely

I'd say this is on-point in terms of genre. Anyways, I tune in to The Losers' Club for the personalities as much as for the topics, so have at it, says I. Looking forward to listening to it!
