I remember watching The Rage on television a few times growing up and then re-watching it (along with all the other Carrie movies) when I first found your guys' podcast a couple years ago. And I jus re-watched it to listen to your guys conversation. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's better than the other couple Carrie remakes that came out later. Unfortunately this movie just re-treads the 1973 movie and doesn't add anything to the Carrie lore. The only it that is added is the shoe-horned "Rachel is Carrie's half-sister" plot point and it's just so unsatisfying. As a movie on its own it's just fine. The end sequence is gnarly and that final jump scare is effective (though out of left field). I overall think it remembers the face of its father.

2020-08-06 20:39:19 +0000 UTCI think it remembers the face of its father. Not in significant clarity; you wouldn't want to trust a sketch artist's rendering of that face. But I can think of numerous King movies that are actually based on his work that are not merely worse than this movie, but way worse. Cell, A Good Marriage, Thinner, The Langoliers, Trucks, Bag of Bones, the remake of Children of the Corn, etc. That's my take on it, at least. For a fauxquel, it's alright.

2020-08-06 20:32:16 +0000 UTCThat's not the intent of the Dollar Baby program, though; King lets aspiring filmmakers make those for school projects and to help them get into festivals, and that's to help them develop, not to help them gain notoriety or money. So most of them are not viewable by general audiences, nor should they be; it's how the system King has established works.

2020-08-06 20:23:50 +0000 UTCStephen king Brethren, where can I watch any of the one for the road dollar babies? It seems like a waste to make these things and never be able to let them see the light of day outside of exclusive viewing festivals/opportunities!
