2020-08-13 14:36:49 +0000 UTCWhen I was a kid I would walk laps around the recess yard listening to Newman's scores for Shawshank and The Green Mile on a discman (you can imagine how popular and attractive to girls this made me). Surprised by the lack of love towards the Green Mile score, I might even prefer it to Shawshank's. Such a spectrum of emotion to it. Refresh yourselves!

2020-08-11 21:31:06 +0000 UTCGoing by that standard, then, it's definitely The Shining. My #2 would probably be Creepshow. There are a fair number of strong King-movie scores, though; that's a deeper bench than it might seem.

2020-08-10 12:50:42 +0000 UTCThis is true. More of a soundtrack, if you will.

2020-08-10 12:50:27 +0000 UTCI think The Shining and Shawshank probably have stronger scores, but I had to go with It because the instrumental score during the circle/swear scene at the end gets me EVERY TIME

2020-08-10 08:26:30 +0000 UTCChristine. I also think it's Carpenter's best score. There's more there than Halloween, and what's there is just as good as the few themes in Halloween.

2020-08-10 03:36:28 +0000 UTCthe intro score to the dead zone is unmatched

2020-08-10 03:31:41 +0000 UTCI voted for The Shining, but with a major caveat: very little of the music in the movie was actually written for it. Most of what you hear is repurposed stuff by Ligeti, etc.

2020-08-10 00:41:59 +0000 UTCSo hard to pick. here's my top 3. The Shining, Shawshank and Dead Zone.
