I love long takes when they are done well, and there were a couple of them in this series that had to have been really hard to set up. and excecute. I appreciate the effort it takes to do that.

2021-10-07 13:39:54 +0000 UTCThere's definitely some Spielbergian influences lingering there, I agree with that. I just think Spielberg brought a little more grounded dirt with that sentimentality. It was a part of the journey whereas this feels like the journey's sole intent.

And when the doctor was shot in church--I flat-out ugly cried. Is it fair to say that Mike Flanagan has some Spielberg in him, when it comes to happy endings?

2021-10-05 17:09:39 +0000 UTCI think it's a bit sloppy , but that what works in it works at such a high level that I forgive it pretty much all of its sins. So in that respect, it's a bit like a King novel, too.
