Here’s our November 2021 calendar!
Added 2021-11-02 01:25:14 +0000 UTC--In our regular feed, we're dropping our Bag of Bones episode from this past Sunday, celebrating 45 years of Brian De Palma's Carrie with special guest Colleen Green, visit Hollywood King to catch up on all the latest headlines, and venture into the woods to find The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon.
--In The Barrens, we're dropping our first Lobstrosities in over a year with Larry Cohen's Return to 'Salem's Lot, naming King's 10 best stories for Thanksgiving, and escaping to Mid-World for another Dark Tower Detour. This time, however, the minds behind Dark Tower Radio will be joining in on the fun.
--And once again, we'll be meeting up at the Mellow Tiger on -- mark your calendars, Constant Listeners -- Sunday, November 28th at 7 p.m. EST // 4 p.m. PST. Here's the thing, though: We're not opening up a Bag of Bones. No, we're gonna workshop Stephen King video game ideas while revisiting the oft-forgotten The Dark Half video game. Rest assured, this will be as interactive as the games we dream up.

On the Tom Gordon book, which I am re-reading at your suggestion, I am not certain how many of you are baseball fans, but as a lifelong fan (SF Giants, womb to tomb for me) I can absolutely relate to King's devotion to his Red Sox. It might be difficult for readers who don't follow baseball with as much passion, to understand how parralels between baseball, anxiety and terror, superstition, and seemingly unreasoning faith. Some of my most terrifying moments have been spent in my ballpark or listening/watching a ballgame, hoping against hope, and living and dying from one moment to the next, watching something I can't control! This is in no way rational, and King's deep baseball knowledge and devotion as a fan, along with his legendary ability to find the terror in almost any situation is really evident here, but I fear that even Constant Readers won't relate to this, even if they love his other work--if they don't care about baseball. I know this book is considered minor, and hell--maybe he just wrote it for himself--but it's a gem, and I look forward to listening to your discussion, as always:)
