2022-07-13 18:33:11 +0000 UTCI constantly revisit S1/S2. I simply love them and they're just so rewatchable, which is big deal for me. I like how grounded they are, and, for me, the Ghostbusters episode is a joy. It's why I got so annoyed w/Duffers forgetting Will's B-day. It's noted in one of the best episodes of the series, 2.08, the MindFlayer. It's like you're an expensive show dudes, get continuity people. Hell, fans will do it for you!

2022-07-08 15:08:09 +0000 UTCI agree, mostly! The Hopper and Joyce belligerent romance was grating, but that might be because I didn’t grow up with the movies of the era that references. I also never really had a mall growing up, so I just didn’t have much attachment to the settings. The monster is the real reason I’m there ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I’d rewatch if I were going all through the show, but otherwise I’d rather watch S1 or S2 again

2022-07-05 06:27:26 +0000 UTCI really enjoyed your banter on this episode. My take on “consequences” in the show are more in line with Tolkien and Lord of the Rings. A group that started happy and innocent fragment off in their various adventures by chance and necessity. When they rejoin after accomplishing their missions aren’t the same despite a desire to go back to normal. They can’t. No one core member died, but they suffer. Also the Duffer brothers created magic with a story that is brought to life by amazing casting (and writing). Good on them extending the ability for these talents to get paid and not kill them off. Now on to watch season 4 and look back on this take as terrible.

I find it to be the weakest of the 4 seasons and you all seemed in love with it despite so many flaws I see. It was the most surface of the seasons, which does make sense w/it being the summer story. But, if I had to see 1 more gross out, or one more ridiculous Russia bit, I thought I would scream. The best part of the season for me is the Will part of story w/friends growing apart. I thought it was interesting as he was stuck in place, likely related to what happened to him in S1 and 2. I wanted more of that. I hope we'll get more in Vol 2 and especially S5. However, I don't feel confident we will due to popularity of other characters. Anyway, thank you.

2022-06-25 14:54:24 +0000 UTCTo be honest, I personally don't know anyone who has that opinion on S3, which means we'd likely have to source online, and I really didn't want to do that for this series. I've been wanting to have guests that we know and have a rapport with and can all bring in some keen insights, all of which our guests have. Esp Meagan. I think we outlined a number of these criticisms, but ultimately, we find this to be an incredibly appealing season that aligns with the evolution of sequels in that things change, characters change, and perspectives change. Rest assured, we're far more critical come S4.

2022-06-25 14:13:55 +0000 UTCI really think you should've had someone on this podcast to speak for not liking S3. For me, it's the floor of the show, not the ceiling. S1 and S2 are so good w/exception of Lost Sister episode. S4 is so much better than S3 while still flawed. I think your issues w/Will in S3 inform the problems w/S3, which you all seem okay with. Hopper is out of character and too many side characters are in spotlight. The Russia stuff is dullsville. I have no interest in Billy as what he is in this season. I could go on, but it's been enough. I've said my peace.

2022-06-23 13:54:19 +0000 UTCRegarding sidelining Will, part of the problem starting w/S3 is emphasizing made to be side characters over him. I feel like I'm on drugs listening because while I like Steve, he has way too much story. Also, I find separating Dustin from the boys strange. Everything Russa from Hopper to Scoops Ahoy is boring to me. I find the main meat MindFlayer too much Billy and too gross to be interesting. I wish El and Will had more together. Also tired of seeing El w/her hand out. S4 is so much better, but they still sideline Will. Notice, Will leaves just before Dustin hears Russian message. Why not include him there? They needed him to note MindFlayer's presence, but not after. That was a writing choice. NS is one of the best of the kid actors and it really bothers me he's not more in it. I really hope the story comes back around in Vol 2 and S5, but I'm not sure since they seem more concerned w/popularity of Steve and Will being left out has now become a joke so many times over in the fandom. Although, I find Nancy completely boring and she's front and center from S3 on. It's like, can we get back to the kids and not the older teenagers, please.
