For this installment, the Losers are dusting off Stephen King's aborted novel The Cannibals, the likes of which would later become Under the Dome. Given that we've just dedicated three whole book episodes to King's 2009 epic, we thought one more on the genesis of the story would be a perfect addition to the Archives. So, grab your bibs, sharpen your sharpest knives, and join us as we devour this unfinished relic.

Listening to this late right now. Things looking weirdly unreal like childrens' drawings reminded me of the faces of the doctors in "Insomnia".

2024-04-25 06:20:33 +0000 UTCI had the same thought! A lot about Pulasky reminded me of him (I didn’t finish yet, btw). Also King’s Dominion is that Mississippi John Hurt was used as the opening theme song in one season of Mister Mercedes.

2023-08-27 00:27:19 +0000 UTCThe thing about the peepholes makes me think of "They're Creeping Up On You" where Upson Pratt is made to look deranged and monstrous through that peephole on his door. Since King wrote this whole "Creepshow" was being filmed, that might not be a coincidence.

2023-08-24 19:24:14 +0000 UTCAdding to Randall's point about the bit with the ants possibly meaning King had aliens in mind here: the opening sounds like a conscious evocation of Wells' "War of the Worlds."
