This one beats both that and Go Fish for me because it contributes to character growth, however minimally. Still fairly cringy though, but it's Buffy so even the cringe is pleasurable.

Yes, it's silly and goofy, but I thoroughly enjoy seeing jerky men getting their comeuppance, from condescending pseudo-intellectuals to misogynist sociopaths like Parker. Xander, surprisingly after his "Nothing can defeat the penis!" outburst, comes off really well in this episode. Also, SMG is brilliant at comedy. Who doesn't love Cave Slayer spinning around on a chair until she falls off? And her line reading of, "FOAMY," is just hilarious. Buffy, reduced to her id, is still a hero at heart, she recognizes her love for Willow, but Buffy's not perfect, so she'll still club Parker on the head. Twice. That's my Buffy.

2020-02-18 06:35:00 +0000 UTCI kind of weirdly like this one. I think the secret for me is that I read it as a parody of those silly after-school specials. Which it kind of was; the network told them to make an anti-drinking/anti-drug episode because the government was giving out money for it. But they didn't get the money because the government thought it was too out there and no one would connect the dots. (Government: Dumber than cave people.) But there's something about it that feels like a snarky middle finger given to demands like that.
