Snape was never on Harry's side - he hated Harry and always did. He bullied Harry without mercy. But the strength of his love for Lily was so great that for her - for the memory of her - Snape was willing to protect, and even die for, a boy he hated. It's the consistent message of the series - love is more powerful than anything else.

Dumbledore and others were always correcting him. In this final move, after he saw Snape's memories and learned that he was on Harry's side all along as a triple agent, during the scene when Voldy and him are fighting, he says, "You told Professor Snape that wand was failing you." In the end, Harry found respect for Snape. He called him Professor.

2020-11-06 19:37:02 +0000 UTCThere are a lot of twists in this movie that I love, and which make it my favorite of the 7, but one of the best ones for me was the gut-wrenching realization that, in the Half Blood Prince, Dumbledore wasn't begging Snape to spare him, he was begging Snape to kill him, one, so that Draco wouldn't have to kill him, and two, so that Voldemort would trust Snape fully. There is a meme regarding Fred Weasley's death. I don't know if you've seen it, and I can't remember if it's something that Rowling confirmed or wrote, or if it's just something that someone came up with, but whether or not it's cannon, it gets me every time I read it: "During the Battle of Hogwarts, the head of Nearly Headless Nick finally came off. After school restorations were completed, he joined the Headless Hunt. Thus, Gryffindor needed a new house Ghost. There were many young applicants, but the title was given to a certain red-headed ghost who came from many generations of Gryffindors. Twelve years later, the first of the new generation started to trickle in, and a large group of eleven year olds were excited to meet their beloved uncle, one at a time." Another theory people had was Remus, since Lupin was a werewolf, and his nickname was Moony, and Luna means moon it made sense. Luna did a lot for Harry so it only made sense. Rowling stated it had nothing to do with Remus, but I like to believe the name Luna was picked for both Luna and Remus.

I was devastated, and still am in some ways, that we didn't get to see Richard Harris portray Dumbledore throughout the entire series on the screen. I think he would've been phenomenal. To me, Dumbledore was always like your lovable grandfather but within that held your respect and perhaps even a little awe at how powerful he could be. I felt that Harris portrayed that much better(the first two movies he simply demanded quiet with but a small action or look and the students would fall silent.) Gambet was great but I still think he played it a little more 'crazier' (especially in the Goblet of Fire) than I liked. That said, he still grew on me and by Half Blood Prince I was so sad to see him go. As for my rankings of the movies is probably as follows: Deathly Hallows Pt 2 Prizoner of Azkaban Half-Blood Prince Order of the Phoenix Goblet of Fire Deathly Hallows Pt 1 Chamber of Secrets Philosopher's Stone I think Prizoner was the best movie but it's impossible for me to rate it higher than DH 2 since so many heart wrenching and memorable moments happened that leave a lasting memory on the entire franchise. I've seen DH2 like a dozen times and it still makes me cry, smile and choke up every damn time. This story and franchise was one in a million. Very few compare to it for me.

Things could've been quite different for Longbottom and his life's path but for the choices of others involved. Don't want to spoil it but enjoy.

2020-08-28 04:04:08 +0000 UTCOh also also - I don’t think I saw this mentioned in the comments above, but I do apologize if it’s a repeat.....Regarding Snape’s allegiance and entire character arc: Rowling actually told Rickman (the actor) about it from the very first movie in a private discussion. She wanted him to be aware of the many dimensions to his character whilst portraying him throughout the films. It’s actually super interesting to observe on rewatch, as it’s so subtly noticeable in countless ways. RIP to Rickman and the force of an actor that he was. I think that a substantial part of the “charm” you had for Snape’s character throughout was due to his abilities and nature as an actor as well as a person. My first exposure to him was also as a child when I first watched Die Hard. He was magnificent in every role

2020-08-21 08:43:58 +0000 UTCOne of the things I am most upset about in the adaptation of Half Blood Prince is that they left out the part where Tonks found petrified Harry on the train (not Luna) and sent her patronus to the school to let them know she found Harry. Harry and Snape noticed that her patronus was no longer a jack rabbit, but was instead a wolf. It was great foreshadowing that someone’s patronus can change when they are suffering from unfulfilled love (Snape taking on Lily’s doe patronus). I feel like if that had been left in, more movie-only people would have had an inkling of who sent that doe to the pond in the Forest of Dean. Not many people, but the bright ones. It would have been fun to watch as someone who enjoys watching reaction videos.

Kingsley Shacklebolt became Minister for Magic, and immediately worked to drive out all the corruption and bigotry from the ministry. And even cooler, Rowling has said that after he retired from office, he was succeeded by none other that Hermione Granger.

And I still remember when I watched the last one at age of 22, I cried badly walking out of the theatre, because it was not only the end of Harry Potter franchise to me, but also like an end of my childhood experience. I feel so lucky to grow up together with these characters as well as the actors/actresses, especially Daniel/Emma/Rupert who are the same age as me. I'm also happy that you enjoyed this journey a lot, this is definitely one of the great movie franchises in history!

2020-08-17 01:35:08 +0000 UTCoof i forgot about all of this, i haven't re-read the book since it came out but you're right the book final battle was just so much cooler ESPECIALLY the deaths. i hated how they made them dust off, it loses its impact so much. in the books it was meaningful that voldemort just dropped dead in the end because it proved he was mortal just like everyone else. them taking that away just for some cool vfx shots just loses that impact.

By the way, the fact that Hermione ended up with Ron instead of Harry (same with Leia ending up with Han) is one of the reasons why I ship Nikki with Neil instead of Max. 😅

This one was the one I was eagerly awaiting and loved so much. An amazing and emotional finale as always. I am curious to rewatch the Fantastic Beasts movies with ya too, as I hardly seen those movies. Think I've only seen the first one twice and the second one once. Either way, these were pretty awesome reactions that were even worth seeing in full. Can't also wait to see if you delve into the books too. And also, one very little thing in Deathly Hallows Part 2 that would've made one character have a full redemption was Draco. Right after Harry revealed that he was alive, Draco, who got his wand back from his mother, quickly sprung into action and hands Potter his wand. It was filmed, but never released, which could of been Draco returning the favor as his mother did too. That's also why you see Voldemort looking at Lucius, thinking to kill him or looking at Harry to go after him as he goes for the latter. And that's why the Malfoy family runs off. It's a little moment that could fixed one little thing, but as it is..doesn't ruin the moment as it all would've been too fast with Neville's speech, followed by Harry revealing he's alive to Draco tossing his wand to him to then blasting into action. But in all, my rating for these movies is about as close: 1. Deathly Hallows Part 2 2. Prisoner of Azkaban 3. Chamber of Secrets 4. Goblet of Fire 5. Order of the Phoenix 6. Philosopher's Stone 7. Half-Blood Prince 8. Deathly Hallows Part 1

I really love these movies overall too, no matter their flaws. I've truly enjoyed watching them, and I'm excited to watch your reactions for the Fantastic Beasts movies as well. I'm especially excited for your reaction to the first of them... Fantastic Beasts: And Where to Find Them! Both movies are really good, but the first movie is much better than the second movie. At least for me. :) Back to your reactions for the Harry Potter movies... In order to get what I don't care for about them out of the way, one of my biggest pet peeves about these movies, is that so many great characters like Lupin, Tonks, Mad Eye Moody, Fred, etc... were all killed off screen. I hate it because these movies all could have been just a little it longer to make room to show these tragic, but important deaths. Now... Snape's death for me is by far the most tragic, because he was such a good man all along. He gave so much for Harry and for Dumbledore, because he deeply loved Lilly Potter. And while he struggled to deal with Harry in all their years at Hogwarts together because he disliked James Potter for bullying him and for taking Lilly away from him, he still did care about Harry and wanted to protect him. Harry after is Lilly's son. Plus... Snape also cared about Dumbledore even though Dumbledore helped Harry, all along knowing Harry had to die to destroy Voldemort. So, for Snape to have to kill Dumbledore too... it must have broken him that much more than he already had been upon being forced to pretend to be on Voldemort's side. And knowing all this, then seeing Snape being killed so brutally... it's absolutely tragic. I can't help but cry every time. When he's being killed, and throughout Harry seeing his memories through his tears. I also love that in the end, it's revealed that Harry and Ginny named their oldest son after Severus Snape to honor him, giving their son his name as his middle name. Fabulous! I love, love, love Snape as a character. And Alan Rickman in this role is just fantastic, just like he always is in any movie he's ever been in. And Snape is definitely one of my favorite characters throughout these movies. As are Professor McGonagall played by the phenomenal Maggie Smith, Ron Weasley played by Rupert Grint, Remus Lupin played by David Thewlis, and Neville Longbottom played by Matthew Lewis as well. Also... for me, Ginny's character is just okay. I don't really care about Harry and Ginny as a couple because they're never really built up well enough for me. And her character alone is just kind of boring. As for Neville... like I said above, I love his character. Although, I definitely would have preferred to see Neville kill Bellatrix for what she had done to his parents, whom she actually tortured so badly that they are now confined within an insane asylum and no longer know their son to be their son, which is why Neville lives with his grandmother. So, while I love seeing Bellatrix being killed by Molly Weasley, who I really like a lot as a character too, I still think Bellatrix's death would have been far more impactful had it been Neville who killed her instead. Perhaps, they purposefully chose not to have him kill her because it might have been seen as him taking revenge out on her and they didn't want revenge to ruin the good and innocence in Neville. But I don't know if this is how JK Rowling felt or not. Either way... I love how it is Neville who kills Nagini... Voldemort's snake, in order to save Ron and Hermione. And as for the order in which I like these movies... 1) Harry Potter And the Prisoner of Azkaban (My overall favorite) 2) Harry Potter And the Half Blood Prince 3) Harry Potter And the Goblet of Fire 4) Harry Potter And the Deathly Hallows Part Two 5) Harry Potter And the Deathly Hallows Part One 6) Harry Potter And the Sorcerer's Stone (or Philosopher's Stone) 7) Harry Potter And the Order of the Phoenix 8) Harry Potter And the Chamber of Secrets Overall... these movies are fantastic and are full of magic, fun, entertainment, humor, and beauty too. So, thank you so much for your reactions for all of these fun and entertaining movies. They aren't without their flaws, but they're really amazing nonetheless, and I've enjoyed watching them all again with you as you watch and enjoy them all for the very first time. So thank you again, Liam! Oh... and there are also certainly some characters within these films that I would love to see spinoffs for, showing more about their lives. 2020-08-16 05:34:02 +0000 UTCYour reactions are wholesome, Liam! <3 No matter how many times I see this film, I still get emotional, even now. Its adrenaline-filled, tense and heartbreaking. As huge HP fan, I’m afraid I’m going to have difficulty keeping this comment short. I’ll try and simplify! If you delve far enough into the fandom, you’ll often find a lot of heavy Snape discussions. But to start off I want to say that JK herself has said that he is morally grey. Neither good or bad – a blend of both. The discussions you’ll find will correlate to book vs movie Snape, and even though it’s the same character, Alan Rickman (bless his soul) imbued the character with emotion and subtlety we didn’t quite get to see within the books. JK told Alan the meaning behind the word ‘Always’, outlining that Alan was the only one who knew the motives of the character early (not even the producers/directors knew!). He was an asshole of a character, and generally unpleasant. But he had a love and heart under that cold exterior that no one but Dumbledore knew. I also want to add personally that Snape is my absolute favourite character of this franchise for the sheer complexity of him, and his tragic backstory. He is a sad character and he ended up dedicating and sacrificing his life to protecting Lily’s son, in honour of a woman he loved and could not save. Keeping in mind he was a quadruple-agent – His initial allegiance was to Voldemort. He believed in his cause during his first reign and was sent to spy as an agent on Dumbledore, hence why he eavesdropped on the Prophecy, and told Voldemort. Once Snape realised he would go after Lily, he freaked out and approached Dumbledore to help him keep her safe. He stayed within Hogwarts grounds and working with Dumbledore, until Voldemort rose again in GOF. He went back to Voldemort ‘pretending’ to be undercover at Hogwarts, but instead going ‘undercover’ in Voldemort’s ranks. Dumbledore requested Snape kill him to seal his allegiance with Voldemort, and so he trusted him to remain at Hogwarts and protect the school and its students. Working against Voldemort the entire time. Dumbledore entrusted Snape with the Horcrux knowledge later, in the hopes he will seek him out and pass on the crucial information that will destroy Voldemort once and for all. Sadly for Snape, he died unnecessarily. But as much as I love Snape as a character, death was frankly the only thing that would complete his character. All this time he protected Harry – and he did it for Lily. Even despite being constantly bullied by his father at school. He protected the kid anyway. For me, it’s a beautiful arc to his character, and his loss was devastating. Even more so when we finally see those memories. Going back through the films with the additional knowledge of his true allegiance and motives, his actions start to make more sense through the films. Severus Snape truly is a remarkable character.

First I’d like to just say I have enjoyed getting to see you live this and it brought back all those emotions that I have felt so many times. Thank you so much for sharing this with all of us. I will say with zero spoilers at all, the Cursed Child play that is in the West End and in NY starts at the 19 Years Later, so when the world get’s back up and running I 100% recommend you seeing it. I am a theater nerd and it is one of the most breathtaking productions I’ve ever seen and adds so much of a cherry on top. It’s a full day commitment but beyond worth it. I hope you enjoy the books when you get around to them as you are in for a lot of really great treats that just couldn’t fit in the films. Thank you again!

For starters she’s the one who killed Tonks (her niece btw), also Bellatrix was the last one of Voldemort’s death eaters standing. She had a badass 1v3 fight of her vs Hermione, Luna, and Ginny, in which she almost killed Ginny, which is why Molly got involved. Her death also made Voldemort extremely angry to which he almost killed Molly before Harry stepped in and they had their final dual.

2020-08-16 01:43:48 +0000 UTCBy far, my favorite reaction to the Harry Potter series, now to clear one thing up, the Resurrection Stone isn't what brought Harry back. Although, given that they cut out the actual explanation out, it's understandable why you'd think that. In Goblet of Fire Voldemort used Harry's blood to resurrect. By doing this, he took in a part of Lily's sacrifice. Not only was Harry tethering Voldemort to life by being a pseudo-horcrux, but Voldemort was keeping Lily's sacrifice alive and therefore, keeping Harry alive. That's not to say that Harry was invincible, but the fact that he willingly sacrificed made all the difference. Also, you were right. Harry was Master of Death. Not by being immune to death, but by mastering all three hallows and ultimately accepting the fact that one must die. One other thing, and I'm really ticked that they left this out of the movie, but when Harry sacrificed himself, he didn't just do it to get rid of the horcrux, he did it so that everyone else could live. This ultimately put the same protection that Lily gave Harry onto all of his friends. The books showed that Voldemort was unable to harm any of Harry's friends.

2020-08-15 23:43:57 +0000 UTCLastly, it will be difficult to understand the Fantastic Beasts movies if you haven’t read the Harry Potter books yet because the important info is in Deathly Hallows but wasn’t covered in the movies. The short version is that when he was younger, Dumbledore became really close (and I mean in love with) Gellert Grindelwald. Grindelwald is the young thief you saw in DH1 that stole the elder wand from Gregorovich. Grindelwald, Albus Dumbledore, and Aberforth Dumbledore got into a huge argument and Dumbledore’s sister died from someone’s rebounded spell. Grindelwald peaced out right afterwards. Grindelwald then became super evil and caused Voldemort-type tyranny all over Europe. Dumbledore was the only person powerful enough to take him on but he avoided it for many years until he had no other choice. Dumbledore won the duel and won the elder wand. Grindelwald went to prison. You saw Grindelwald again in DH1 when Voldemort went to him to find out where the elder wand was. Grindelwald told him it was in Dumbledore’s crypt. In the book, though, Grindelwald laughed in Voldemort’s face and told him nothing. All of that info is in Deathly Hallows, and I think they probably would have kept it in the movie if they knew Fantastic Beasts would be made years later, but they didn’t know that. The Fantastic Beasts movies start as Grindelwald is gaining power in Europe. Hopefully that will help you follow along with the movies better because people who only watched the HP movies tend to get really confused during Fantastic Beasts.

He didn’t want to leave them there if he wasn’t there to control them. McGonagall is a Gryffindor through and through. She is brave AF and was not gonna go down without a fight. Also, in the book it wasn’t Ginny who first noticed that Hagrid was carrying the supposedly dead Harry. It was McGonagall and she did that awful scream you hear Ginny make. I wish you could have been in the theater when this movie first came out. During Molly’s fight with Bellatrix, all the book readers yelled out “NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!” right along with Molly. It was glorious. Regarding snape, when you go back to edit Deathly Hallows 1, notice who it is that kills Hedwig. It was Snape. Snape saw Hedwig trying to protect Harry and realized that Hedwig was going to give away the real Harry, so he killed her to try to protect Harry. In reactions to this movie, commenters will always say that George was never able to produce a patronus again after Fred’s death but don’t believe it. Rowling has never said that. She has only said that George never got over it, and of course he would never get over the death of his twin. That whole patronus thing started on tumblr and some people seem to take it as fact. George grew up to marry Angelina Johnson (his fellow quidditch player and the girl he took to the Yule Ball in Goblet of Fire) an they named their son after Fred, so George was able to make some happy memories.

I think Luna is also Lily's godmother, considering she's the only living person that they named their kids after. And Ron and Hermione's children are named Rose and Hugo Weasley (to match their parents' initials).

2020-08-15 22:04:53 +0000 UTCthe place they trained in movie 5 is the room of requirement, the same room where harry and ginny hid the book/kissed, the same room where the horcrux is - so you were correct :) there are many versions of the room, as hermione says it is "always equipped with the seekers needs" so in the 5th movie it looked different which can be confusing. In the 6th BOOK when he hides the textbook, harry actually unknowingly passes the horcrux haha
