2020-12-08 20:18:36 +0000 UTCI just finished reading Alan Moore's 1980s run on a British superhero from the 1950s: Marvelman, later renamed Miracleman, but despite having seen this episode on multiple Buffyverse rewatches, I just now realized that the old man's final magic word is the same word that turns Mike Moran into Marvelman, his Shazam: "Kimota!" In the comics, it is meant to be phonetically "atomic(/k)" spelt backwards. Given Whedon and staff's comic book fandom, I wonder if this was intentional.
