That’s because it’s a female-focused story. They would go for that route instead of the canon mythology.

I can already tell he is going to love her immense evolution the most.

None of Gabrielle’s love interests survive. Neither male nor female.

Yeah, you probably don’t recognize Perdicas. He was in episode 1 but they changed the actor. It was a tall white dude originally. They changed it to a POC actor for a his larger arc. Gabrielle didn’t love him and left her hometown to get away from him. So she didn’t have to marry him. But of course that’s exactly what ends up happening:

The beautiful Galyn Gorg (who sadly passed away not that long ago) was a striking Helen. I like the incorporation of the story of the fall of Troy, complete with giant horse, and the re-introduction of Perdicus. And I was really glad to hear your certainty, Liam, that young Perdicus would not survive the episode. 😆

I know it is just a small thing in the grand context. But I personally seek out and look forward to Liam's reaction to Gabrielle's fight scenes, even though they are very small, because her character and growth are so enjoyable. Didn't really expect anything because they aren't large moments in the plot... but, lo and behold, Liam is just as excited about them! XD Love it!

What I love though actually is this doesn't fall in line with the great love story everyone else talks about but rather what's left after you tire of the beauty and no substance. And then the reverse story with Gabrielle where they didn't even realize they had substance until they both became their own people. Where Helena never could be her own person .
