Collected Writing
Added 2016-02-08 22:26:54 +0000 UTCHey, folks! I said that one of the things switching the Patreon over to monthly payments would do for us is allow Patreon to fund things beyond just the videos - namely, what writing I do. I realize I haven't been fastidious about actually sending that writing to y'all, so I'm going to collect some of the stuff I've written here, and make a point of updating you all when something of significance goes online. (If you want to see this stuff the moment it comes out, follow me on Tumblr.)
Talking To Jack, It Turns Out, Is Complicated
A short piece I wrote after the release of Why Are You So Angry?, talking about a major oversight in my advice at the end of the series, which was pointed out to me in a tactful-yet-humbling Twitter conversation. I consider it a crucial component of the video series at this point, a sort of honorary Part 7.
All Apologies
GamerGate dug up that I had once sent a somewhat inappropriate email to a female game designer that I had, years later, publicly apologized for, but when they made a stink about it I was compelled to make another public statement. I used it as an opportunity to talk about the ethics of failing to be ethical.
On "Being Mean To Atheists"
Some people wildly missed the point of my "many prominent atheists are assholes" comment in Why Are You So Angry?, so I made this Storify about it.
This "Mary Sue" Bullshit
On the kerfuffle regarding The Force Awakens' Rey being or not being a Mary Sue, inspired by Max Landis tweeting at me for guidance. (I doubt he saw it, but it wasn't the guidance he was looking for, I expect.)
Don't Be Surprised: Women In Smash
Posted just yesterday! My thoughts on the lack of women in the competitive SSB Melee scene and the poor arguments used to handwave it. (Also collecting many of the far more authoritative resources on the subject by Peach main Milktea.)
Adventure Game Masterpost
Having done a few videos about adventure games, people keep asking me for recommendations, so I made a masterpost of all my favorites, as well as a complete list of all the games I was anticipating at the time of Who Shot Guybrush Threepwood Part 2. I've been updating the list as each game on the anticipated list gets released.
Thoughts On Read Only Memories
Some people expressed interest in me reviewing the games I mentioned in Who Shot Guybrush Threepwood Part 2. Well, I'm not going to do a video about each one, but I am planning to do capsule reviews on them all. So far I've only managed to finish Read Only Memories, but I'm hoping to tackle some of the other releases soon.
Other Stuff
I also wrote, some time back, some brief thoughts on Tomorrowland and Pulp Fiction, and put audio versions of all my video essays up on SoundCloud. I'd like to do more discussion of film - I've been wanting to talk about the Cornetto Trilogy, and Django Unchained, and the action choreography of the Bourne movies, and Dr. Horrible for a while - but I'm still debating whether or not these will be written pieces or full-fledged video essays. You might see Innuendo Studios branch out beyond just gaming at some point. We'll see.
