Alt-Right Playbook: New Introduction (Rough Cut)

Hey team!

Here is the new Intro to The Alt-Right Playbook! I realize this is mostly covering ground we already covered months ago, but it's extremely revamped and much, much improved, in my estimation.

The way I'm making these is a lot of the art is designed to be reused in future videos, so while this video took a while to make, each successive video should go faster than the last. That said, this took a while to make, so I think we're going to miss our target of three videos in September. I'll aim for a rough cut of the second video next week and the third as early into next month as I can manage.

Anyway: this is still a rough cut, so suspend your criticisms. The audio is a very rough temp track and there have since been a few revisions to the script that I will add when I re-record. A couple things will be made clearer, and the parts that need fixing may be obvious.

Anyway, enjoy, and keep this to yourselves!

Alt-Right Playbook: New Introduction (Rough Cut)

Comments

Sorry, probably not changing anything on the Venn diagram.

I know this is a rough cut, but do you still have time to mention kiwifarms around the 1:29 point in this video?

SO STOKED! This is looking great. :) I'm so excited for when we can share this. You're awesome.

Excellent intro! I'm very excited! Love the point about why engaging doesn't work and just hurts innocent people. It's cool to see you listen and learn from past criticisms, and pass on that knowledge. It was something I had never thought about before. Thanks for your hard work!!!

Jimi

Really like it! Great introduction to a promising-looking series. I had watched your other rough cut before, so the switch in pronouns from "I" to "you" threw me off a bit at first, but now I see how it fits.

I was the mod of a gigantic social justice focused blog back in 2014-2015 and I ended up leaning on this quote from Montaigne a lot: "But what will become of our young gentleman, if he be attacked with the sophistic subtlety of some syllogism? “A Westfalia ham makes a man drink; drink quenches thirst: ergo a Westfalia ham quenches thirst.” Why, let him laugh at it; it will be more discretion to do so, than to go about to answer it; or let him borrow this pleasant evasion from Aristippus: “Why should I trouble myself to untie that, which bound as it is, gives me so much trouble?”"

Eagerly anticipating this development for more reasons than I ever would have anticipated. Keep it up, Ian. We're all rooting for you.

I *just* became a patron, so as someone with no prior awareness of this project presenting their first-exposure opinion on this rough cut: this is an important subject, the meta-level conceit you use to frame this video is excellent, and the content you're presenting in this video is awesome. I'm very much looking forward to seeing the finished product and sharing it with people I know.

The Packbats

Woah, the hype is real. I really love how this new rough cut turned out. :)
