Paying It Forward: Patreons That Deserve Some Love

Hey team,

As a means of assuaging the part of myself that thinks I should only be successful if other great artists are as well, here's a short video shining some light on a few folks I support on Patreon and think you might want to check out. They are all excellent creators who are making considerably less on Patreon than I am.

Oh, hey, I've read him before! He wrote Picture in a Frame. I will investigate further.

Definitely check out Amr Al-Aaser, he does some great writing and could use some love: <a href="https://www.patreon.com/siegarettes/posts">https://www.patreon.com/siegarettes/posts</a> A piece they wrote on ARMS: <a href="https://medium.com/@siegarettes/how-arms-created-a-fighting-game-for-everyone-1bef0a749b62" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://medium.com/@siegarettes/how-arms-created-a-fighting-game-for-everyone-1bef0a749b62</a> and one on Free to Play structures: <a href="https://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2017/07/the-grind-how-free-to-play-games-shatter-gamings-i.html" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2017/07/the-grind-how-free-to-play-games-shatter-gamings-i.html</a>

Watching Art of the Heel now. This is good!

Ian Danskin

This is a great series, and I'm glad you're going beyond YT/videos. Cool stuff. Another person you might look into mentioning is The Moa. Relatively new on the scene, but has done some in-depth looks at the culture and politics in a way that reminds me of you. You might like his series Art-of-the-Heel, which uses wrestling as a way of understanding Trump and the alt-right.

Not as many as I should, and none that either don't need my help or make work that I don't feel good supporting. Do you have any recommendations?

Ian Danskin

Are there any up-and-coming black or brown creators you know of who could use a spotlight?

Sean Haskett

The "needs more gay" series is very nice, thanks!

I hope you can check out one of my video essays some time :D <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0Kxa5Q2j3s" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0Kxa5Q2j3s</a>

Oooh the "need more gay!" channel! I binge watched it back then, and being the air head I am, I didn't subscribe. Let me fix that :) And let me check the other channels too!
