May Update: A Few Weeks In

Hey team!

Officin'

It's only a few weeks since the last (quite late) update, so there's not a ton to report. But I've embedded some images from the current video! Work days in the office have been going well, which is a massive relief. Having some privacy and some quiet is making a big difference.

Sadly, do to a number of COVID exposures in my extended network, I haven't gotten to spend much time in the office. Having a second place I go to means I have to manage the health of two bubbles, and there have been no less than three exposures in the past few weeks. Really wishing the government weren't hanging us out to dry with the current surge!

The most recent exposure I learned about last night, so I'm trying to assess risk, but I think it'll be safe enough to go to the office tomorrow if a home test comes back negative. I will be able to pull a few long days this week, presuming that is the tests check out. I want to see what a normal "work week" can look like in this new setup.

I also acquired a new desk and bookcase for the office, and I think they will feel quite good once they're set up.

Brain Pills, Refunds, Secrets

After months of scheduling and rescheduling and waiting for appointments and waiting for results, I have finally been officially diagnosed with ADHD. I meet with my psychopharm in a few hours to talk about treatment, and will hopefully have some meds in the next few days. Having some privacy has made it easier to get focused, hopefully some stimulants will help me stay focused.

The same day I got my diagnosis, I found that the student loan refund I requested had hit my bank account. (Basically, if you made payments to your student loans during the pandemic, you can request that money back. I thought I was being smart by paying it down while it wasn't collecting interest but I didn't anticipate racking up thousands in medical bills that I wouldn't have the budget to pay, so I asked for it back.) This means, for the first time in ages, I have some breathing room in the bank account. Most of it will go to unpaid bills - to my doctors, my therapists, my CPA, the Suffolk County Traffic Office - but it also means I can stress a little bit less about money for a hot minute, which is another huge load off my mind.

And, a few days after that, I signed a contract that I am not, at this point in time, authorized to tell you about, but, if you read the previous update, you might be able to deduce what it is. So, you know, definitely don't do that.

Adventure Games

My shootgam kick seems to have crested and now I've been feeling the adventures, so you can check out my write-ups on Norco and Citizen Sleeper. I also played Strangeland, which was only okay, and am gearing up for Half Past Fate. Then maybe I'll finally get around to Paradise Killer? Call of the Sea? else Heart.Break()? The sky is the limit.
