October/November Update: Allow Me To Affect You, Seasonally

Hey team! I hope all who celebrate have had a happy Fall of feasting with compatriots and defacing statues of Christopher Columbus!

Postmortem

Missed last month's update, mostly because I released a video riiiiiight around the time I would've posted one. Negging and Love-Bombing has done... okay! Its numbers are modest compared with the last two bite-sized TARPs - it's gotten less than half the traffic You Can't Get Snakes from Chicken Eggs did in the same time period. Didn't have the one-two punch of releasing a couple back to back, amplifying each other's viewership, I suppose. Regardless, it is nice to have taken less than half a year to release something!

Premortem

I am, in fact, just about finished with the next mini-ARPB. Here is a WIP:

My hope was to get this done before December, but I missed it by a couple days. Presently, the audio is recorded and the art is 95% done - I am using placeholder art for a new character I need to design, and then it'll be done.

Then it's just a quick edit and it's off to you and Nebula!

Ambitions

I am nearly done with the freelance gig. Here's a screenshot!

The number of times I have said "I am nearly done with the freelance gig" is horrendous, but it is pretty incontrovertible now. The animation is done, the final narration is complete, the silhouette effect is working. I have to do a single film shoot in front of a white wall and then (extrapolating from the test clip I took the screenshot from) I have about 20 hours of editing to incorporate the footage. Since the company is based in California, which is where my family is, the goal is to finish it off before I head home for Christmas and pick up the check in person while I'm there.

So, in 2024, I will no longer be juggling a big non-channel project.

I have set myself a release schedule for next year. It is... optimistic. I'm not gonna tell you what it is, because I don't know if it's feasible. I just know I want to try for it. I have quite the number of small ARPs written, and - as I lamented this summer - rather a lot of partially-produced videos. 2024 will be the first time I have a) meds, b) an office, and c) nothing to work on but the channel itself. So... I just wanna see what I'm capable of. I took this gig immediately after getting my meds and producing my first video in over a year and what was supposed to be a 7-week sprint turned into a millstone around my neck for a similar length of time.

We won't be doing that again.

Whatever happens in 2024, it will be what I'm capable of. If work still comes out sporadically, we'll have to accept that's the way the channel is from now on. If I get my income back to pre-pandemic levels, we'll know the channel has the capacity to be a proper career again. One way or another, we'll know what we're dealing with.

If I accomplish even half of what I'm hoping to accomplish, you're going to see a lot more on Innuendo Studios next year. And, if you don't, we've learned something. :)

Cheers,

-I

I always enjoy reading these updates! This might be a bit gauche, but will you let us know anything more about the freelance project once it’s done? Though I’m assuming it won’t be publically accessible.

Thanks for the update Ian! We're all rooting for you to feel the best you can <3
