2024-12-09 14:01:51 +0000 UTCI don't think the writer's strike affected Yellowstone because Taylor Sheridan writes all the episodes himself, including the spinoffs.( That's what I read, at least) As far as Costner's "Horizon" project, he'd been trying to get that greenlit for years. It was Yellowstone's success that finally pushed it along. It also helped revive Costner's career and introduced him to a whole new generation. I admit, I'm speaking out of frustration and anger but I feel like Costner had a responsibility to the fans of Yellowstone to see it through. The fact he couldn't make his schedule work for the last six episodes of a series where he's the main focus, just pisses me off. I feel like there was a massive ego issue between Costner and Sheridan. We're getting the watered down version of things. This was a problem between Sheridan and Costner and the show paid the price.

Costner's focus on his own cinematic project, "Horizon: An American Saga", and the time commitment it required forced him to take more time away from Yellowstone. Also, the 2023 writer's strike; production for the second part of season 5 shut down in May 2023.
