Ted Lasso Season 2 Episode 1 REACTION!! (full watch along)

Comments

a therapist of one person should NOT continue as a couple's therapist for them and their partner!!! Perhaps a one or two exceptional sessions - due to something very specific........ Not an actual couple's therapy!

Soccer/footballs aren’t soft. There is a reason they don’t allow young kids to do headers.. Also… it’s a penalty kick. They really kick that b*tch. The faster it is, the harder it is to stop. Although I have seen some mental penalty shots where it just rolls in kinda slow, usually due to a mistake.

Bottle??

Christina H

Yeah, where I’m from it would be the Lions 🦁 Da Bears 🐻

Christina H

I love the mounting similarities between Steven and Roy Kent, it's great.

Fun fact: Doctor Sharon played Rosemary in Sandman, the sweet woman with a dog in her car backseat that gives the terrifying John a ride and soon realizes she made a huge mistake. She's wonderful in that tense episode and Ted Lasso as well.

One more fun fact: Brett Goldstein's standup show, The Second Best Night of Your Life, is fucking fantastic. It's being filmed to be released as a comedy special and I highly recommend that, when it comes out, everyone watches it. My wife and I were able to see him during his US tour last year and it was amazing. Also, he has a podcast called Films to be Buried With that I also highly recommend, especially if you want to get a glimpse into his real personality (bubbly, happy, charming, delightful, and hilariously quick-witted).

A soccer ball, fully inflated, is very hard, too. I work in college athletics (D3 level, I see you Steven! Even if I don't know where you played your D3 football!), and I've seen many a soccer player get a concussion from being drilled in the face with a ball. Then you factor in an EPL level player kicking it extremely hard and hitting a dog square in the side of the head... yeah, that's gonna kill that pup.

Jeff K

Yep. I didn't love it the first time I watched it, but I've rewatched it since and it's definitely grown on me since. The first bottle episode is just so feel-good that I can't help but love it even if it's wildly out of place.

Jeff K

The bottle episodes. I loved the first one, was a little more "meh" about the second one. They're both good, but I think the second one is so different tonally to the rest of the show that it feels a bit out of place. But it was an interesting insight into the character that it focused on.

Another fun fact - Brett Goldstein wasn't originally hired to star on the show, he was brought on as a writer when the show was being developed. He helped create the character Roy Kent before the show started filming and he identified so much with the character that he pitched himself to play Roy Kent to Jason Sudeikis (executive producer) and Sudeikis gave him his shot.

DTGstl314

I think killing a dog with a soccer ball isn't as preposterous as it sounds - the dog probably didn't die from blunt force trauma, I'm guessing that the speed with which the ball hit the dog in the head probably snapped his neck and that's what most likely killed him. Poor puppy.

DTGstl314

Just a reminder that the actor for Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) won best supporting actor Emmy two years in a row for his role as Roy Kent that's how entertaining he is

Yay, so excited you guys are continuing this. Just fyi, this season gets dark, but it is so, so good. I love the Roy/Rebecca dynamic. The similarities between them are spot on, just like the ones between Ted and Keeley. Also, I cackled when Nikki said Oh, no Dani killed Earl and Steven said there was no way he did lol. A soccer ball hitting a dog in the head would be fatal. Anyway, another great reaction. I look forward to watching this season with you!

I have made several trips to the Netherlands the past few years and yes, they are pretty straight forward.

Paul T Hewes

I usually have a lot to say but this episode has a mini cliffhanger so I will wait till next week. I will say Nikki you are absolutely right, you will love Doctor Sharon!!!!!

MAV293 (MARK)

Yeah, it's just to show that he's not a real fan and is just entirely fairweather. In the US, it'd be like saying you're a fan of both the Yankees and the Mets, depending on who's having a better season.

Jeff K

It’s weird that John Wingsnight said he supports either City or United (both in Manchester), whichever is winning … because I’m a Man City fan .. and we hate Man United. And they hate us. Big rivals.

Christina H

Great reaction. I love season 2.

Pam R

Oh, and by the way Nikki and Steven, just an FYI: the writers crafted a 10 episode story for season two, but then season one blew up and became a phenomenon so Apple came back and asked them to add two more episodes. The writers didn't want to disrupt the story they'd already created, so they wrote two episodes that are essentially standalone installments that could still help character arcs but not impact the overall storyline. You'll know the two episodes when you get to them. But just, again, an FYI if you suddenly watch an episode that seems out of place.

Jeff K

I've read comments from Dutch people on other reaction videos to this show that are all like, "No, yeah, that whole 'he's not being rude, he's just being Dutch' thing is absolutely accurate."
