Ted Lasso Season 2 Episode 2 REACTION!! (full watch along)

Comments

I don't know what you're trying to imply or what your problem is. I'm not complaining, I just wanted to make it clear that this is not the common tone between professional footballers and the coach, because Steve and Nicki seemed to be OK with the way Sam spoke to Ted. That wasn't the case when Roy and Jamie did the same, so it didn't had to be pointed out. It was also out of character for Sam. And no, you should not speak like that to your coach. If you have a problem then talk to him privately and in a respectful way. That goes for every player.

Stephanie

and i don't see you complaining about how Roy talked to him. multiple times. and he didn't make Roy run any laps. So i don't get why you complain about Sam losing it here. with Ted making him run laps as a punishment anyway. Sam's rudeness to Ted, as a former victim of Jamie's bullying, makes sense. more people should act this way when managers pretend to ignore bullying that is happening.

Viera Galikova

Eeek! My bad. At least that wasn’t a spoiler.

Christina H

Yes, they did. And? All this is bad behaviour and I doubt that it would happen like that in real life. Not in professional football. What they talk behind the manager's back is a different thing.

Stephanie

Stephanie well, Roy called Ted a fkin Ronald McDonald in the pilot and yelled F you at him in s1 ep9. Jamie made a wanker hand motion at Ted in s1 ep2, and Ted saw it in the mirror.

Viera Galikova

i think Nikki and Steven did not get to Mike Dean yet.

Viera Galikova

It’s funny, I keep forgetting that most other Americans wouldn’t recognize them, it was so long ago that I lived there, I forget that’s why I recognize them. Pretty much every tv person you’ll see, is real. Oh, and at least one of the ref’s is an actual ref, Mike Dean. Though, I think he’s retired now.

Christina H

i'm glad you guys like Brett and i'll never understand what the actual fudge do americans even mean by "nerd" and "geek" and "jock". Imagine how we felt after the revolution, in the 90s, finally being able to watch american movies and sitcoms and stuff, only to find out that, errrr, actually, we're not allowed to enjoy Star Wars or David Copperfield by americans' own rules - it makes us 'nerds'!!!! like seriously, first you guys make comic books and sci fi movies and then you turn around and put down people for liking that stuff. I literally had an existential crisis over your logic in 2015 when trying to watch The Big Bang Theory.

Viera Galikova

At the beginning, Jamie is on "This Morning". It is a real British daytime magazine programme and Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield are the real-life hosts! Similarly the guys who are pundits with Roy are real-life pundits, Jeff Stelling and Christopher Kamara (an English former professional footballer), apart from the grey-haired fictional one - "George Cartrick", he's the creep Rebecca fired in the pilot!

Viera Galikova

love y'all's intros & discussions SO much (and of course the reactions)!!! Hearing the comparisons between Steven and Roy Kent was great. lol Now, we'll have to say " He's here, he's there, he's every f***ing where! Ste-veeen, Ste-veeen"

Angel Groves

I’ve always thought it was a bit of an abrupt betrayal of Sam, after Sam was vulnerable about his insecurity. Steven makes a good point that it should have been a team discussion, I think that would have smoothed the transition over, narratively. Maybe we can chalk it up to nobody being perfect. But, I’ll also say: you both are headed in a great direction with where Jamie’s head could be at. ☺️ I LOVE DR. SHARON. I LOVE KEELEY AND ROY. 😆

Rixxey G.

I missed so many things my first time through. I bet most people have. I’ve seen it so many times now and I still notice things I didn’t notice previously. That’s what makes re-watching so enjoyable.

Christina H

The power of a great show 🙂

BrandyLu

For sure, we want them to get there on their own, and that’s why I tried to strictly mention things that have already happened, because they’re the intentional breadcrumbs from the writers that get us to where we are at the end of this episode with Jamie, which actually is how it worked for me when I first watched the show. Honestly, I’ve been holding off on commenting on some of the Jamie things that seemed to be missed in the reactions to season one because I didn’t want to spoil this episode, and more importantly, make space for them to get there naturally like you said, but I just felt like I finally had to after this episode, since for a lot (most?) Ted Lasso reactors, this is where Jamie’s characterization really starts to click but it wasn’t happening here for whatever reason. Happy for the discussion/reply!

Amanda

Maybe let them get there on their own. No one gave me any instructions when watching the first time. I assume, perhaps wrongly, I’ll admit, that it was the same for you. You got there, they’ll get there. Organic is best. Let them feel about it how they feel. 😊

Christina H

Oh, I’ve always seen it as the complete opposite. When Sam gave him that low-key glare, that was a “seriously!?” kin of look .. and Ted looked away, guilty as hell. And sure, maybe he should have talked to him or the team .. but his job is to create a winning team, and they’re professionals. They’ll suck it up and get on with it. I never once thought he talked to Sam or anyone, aside from Jamie.

Christina H

He’s so different than Roy. Though I’m not sure about him a Hercules. I always thought Hercules was a big dude, Brett just isn’t that “big”. And , yes I saw him at the end of the movie .. it just didn’t feel right. In my opinion, of course.

Christina H

He really is. I love his podcast. It's one of the few that I make sure to listen to weekly. My wife and I saw him on his standup tour last year, and he was amazing, as well. He's just so delightful.

Jeff K

Brett is a bit of a nerd, actually. Love him.

Christina H

First of all, the way Sam talked to Ted was not okay. You don't talk to your coach like that. He just assumed because of a picture that Ted brought Jamie back. Instead of asking him about it, he was totally disrespectful. Second of all, when players are brought into the team it doesn't happen just like that. There is an official appointment of the contract signing, where the press is present to take pictures. Rebecca also had to informed every employee at the club about it. So, I'm pretty sure the team knew about Jamie coming back. Also, I agree with everyone here that commented about Jamie and why Ted brought him back. Can't wait for the next episode. 😊

Stephanie

I think Ted made the best choice, for the team. Remember, beard said “if you’re going to put a players feelings over your job, then I don’t want to drink with someone that selfish. 2 aces.

Christina H

football....is life. as the show

Eric Royer

"You guys are both Oscar the Grouch?" It's funny you say that, Nikki, because Brett Goldstein (Roy) absolutely LOVES the Muppets and Sesame Street, and a couple years ago appeared on an episode of Sesame Street... with Oscar. He said it was basically the pinnacle of his career.

Jeff K

Great reaction. Season 2 is so good. All of them are but the different arcs for different characters are so well done.

Pam R

I love the subtle little things about Jamie to show he’s not all bad. Like he’s routinely been shown to be good to kids, like when he sets aside the asshole act to be nice to Ted’s kid in season one, and in this, with his fans in general, he signs autographs for all of them and is genuinely just kind to them despite being at his lowest.

Jeff K

I always took the look between Sam and Ted meant that they had talked about Jamie already. I know we didn’t see it but the team did not seem surprised so I feel like they had a team meeting beforehand. Since the Diamond Dogs were tied I feel like Ted would have let the team be the tiebreaker.

BrandyLu

So, no spoilers, but I feel it’s important to point out that when y’all say we’ve seen the “real” Jamie and then reference the early episodes of last season, you’re kind of fundamentally misunderstanding both Jamie’s character and the overall story the show’s clearly trying to tell. We didn’t meet the actual, real Jamie until the curse fire in season one, and the moment with his dad & later with the army man in the finale, and then with Ted & Keeley this episode, that’s the real Jamie. The version of him that you guys keep defaulting to was a defense mechanism created over the course of probably a decade or more (just speculation based on Jamie’s age & his backstory in Two Aces) to try to please/protect himself from a violent & abusive father. That’s why Ted only starts to change his mind/gather the Diamond Dogs after hearing Sam talk about his own loving, supportive father. Not that that excuses everything he did and he still needs to do the work to make amends to the people he hurt in the process (primarily Sam), which remains to be seen in the following episodes. Anyway, really enjoy y’all’s reactions, but wanted to finally comment because I think that that kind of significant misread of Jamie’s character can actually mess up people’s overall interpretation of the show and I don’t want that to happen to you guys. Much love ❤️ & thanks again for the reactions!

Amanda

What Ted learned being the deciding factor to bring Jamie back was what Beard was upset at him for when he didn’t want to bench Roy. This team is yours to lead, sorry if you have to hurt a few people’s feelings to lead it. In his mind he’s doing what’s best for his team and it’s better to beg for forgiveness later than to ask permission. I’m happy he’s learning 😂 and I love this episode so much because my guy Jamie is back 😂🥳 So excited for this season and I’m happy that show got rid of him. Jamie is not built for reality tv 😭 I appreciate your pro Jamie take Nikki ☺️ Like Nikki said, we saw change in Jamie before he left the team when they were at the bonfire when he even welcomed Dani in with open arms so the change was there. Interesting thoughts though and great reaction
