Chapter 127 [Vault]

Title - The Reincarnator and her Greene | Chapter 2 | Female MC

_____________________________________________________

[3rd POV]

Walking alongside the roads of Mert County, Bucky walked in silence. Her shield strapped to her back, the bag strapped across her shoulder as she walked, the glock in a holster at her side.

It had been a total of 2 days since she had appeared in this world. In that time, she had killed over 2 dozen walkers, usually with her knife or shield. None of them were able to survive the force that she threw her shield at.

During these 2 days, she had searched several more buildings, including a convenience store, a local gun store, and 2 houses. The gun store and convenience store had little supplies, with the convenience store only having a couple of bottles of water and that was it. While the gun store had a bulletproof vest that she had put on underneath her clothing, and a long sleeve that she had put over her metal arm, alongside pitch black gloves to cover her hand.

Inside of the houses, she found some books that she had taken, mostly for her own enjoyment. She had also found a map of the area, seemingly used by a hunter or something, another 20 rounds for her glock, a few cans of food, and that was about it.

She had tried finding any working vehicles, but she had yet to find any. As most of them were either too worn to run, drained of gas, or completely destroyed from crashes or something similar.

Walking near the nearby forest, Bucky took a bite of the granola bar she had found in the second house, munching on it as she walked.

‘I’m not sure how far I am from the Greene Farm, but it’s gotta be around 10-15 miles away…hopefully’ Bucky thought with a sigh, she knew that the farm wasn’t that far away, but it would likely be another couple of days before she found the thing, and she could only hope she had that long.

‘For now…let’s just continue’

[A day later, Night]

It was late into the night, a day later, and Bucky was sitting around a campfire, sitting in the forests of Mert County. She was using a spoon she found to scoop up warm beans from a warmed can, munching on the food, when she heard the sounds of brush rapidly moving, and running.

Getting to her feet, she frowned and got to her feet, only for her eyes to shoot wide as screams sounded out. ‘That’s!-’ Bucky burst into a sprint, gripping her knife in her hand as she ran towards the screams, as they got louder the closer she got.

Bursting through a brush, she shot forward, slamming the knife through the skull of the walker from the side of its pale skull. Pulling the walker back to stop it’s blood from splattering onto the one being attacked, Bucky pushed it to the side with a sigh.

“You alright there?” Bucky asked, turning. Her eyes widening ever so slightly as she gazed upon the small figure. It was a young strawberry blonde headed girl, with brown eyes full of fear. The girl in question looked to be around 12 or so, and was completely and utterly terrified.

This girl was Sophia Peletier, the daughter of Carol, and the girl that would have died normally, if not for Bucky’s interference.

Sophia scrambled back in fear, as Bucky glanced at the knife, and threw it to the ground “It’s alright kid, I’m not gonna hurt you” Bucky softly said, crouching down.

“You alright? You weren’t bit were you?” Bucky asked her, as she gazed at her before shaking her head, causing Bucky to release a sigh of relief, before smiling. Taking her mask off, she smiled at the girl.

“Well, I’m glad you’re alright. I’m Bucky Murdock, it’s a pleasure to meet you, little lady. What’s your name?” Bucky asked as Sophia looked at her, before softly replying.

“S-Sophia”

“A pretty name for a pretty girl. So, Sophia, what’re you doing out here all alone?” Bucky asked, as Sophia opened her mouth to reply, only for tears to slowly build up in her eyes.

“M-My-I-” Seeing the girl struggling, Bucky just gave her a soft look “No need to explain, Sophia. Why don’t we get you something to eat, huh? I’ve got a campsite only a little walk aways from here” Bucky said, as the girl looked at her, before slowly trying to get to her feet, only to whimper in pain.

“Ah, that’s quite the little bump you’ve got there. Cmon then, I’ll carry you” Bucky said, placing her knife in its holster and walking over to the girl, who was in very obvious pain.

“Wh-why?”

“Why what?” Bucky asked.

“Why-why are you helping me?” Sophia asked the unknown, tall woman, as she was lifted onto a piggyback ride. The tall woman effortlessly carrying her.

“Cause you’re in need of it? Plus, what self respecting person would I be to let a little girl get hurt?” Bucky replied as Sophia looked down at her, a small smile forming on her face.

“Thank you, Miss Bucky” Sophia said, the first smile gracing her face in a long time, the tears were still in her eyes, but now they were being slowly overtaken by hope, and not tears of fear and sadness.

“Not a problem kid. And just call me Bucky, or Buck. I’m only 25, not an old lady” Bucky replied with a fake pout, causing the girl to giggle.

“Okay, Bucky, but…your names kinda weird, isn’t it?” Sophie responded as Bucky huffed.

“Sophie’s a weird name too”

“No it isn’t” Sophie replied with a giggle, as Bucky pouted.

“Yes yes, my name is weird. My Ma and Pa must have been awful at naming things” Bucky replied as the girl giggled more, as they walked through some brush, revealing her small campsite.

“Alright kid, lets get you situated. I’ve got some bandages that’ll help that little bump of yours heal up” Bucky said, as she lifted the girl and placed her on the ground.

“Whoa, what’s this, Bucky?” Sophia asked, noticing the large black bag that covered her shield.

“An old family heirloom. My gramps was a WW2 Veteran and used that back when he fought the Nazi’s. Pretty cool, isn’t it?” Bucky answered, as the girl gazed at the star on the shield, as it was illuminated from the flames of the campfire.

“Really cool. It’s like the comic book that Carl showed me” Sophia said with a smile as she remembered Carl. Noticing the look, Bucky raised an eyebrow.

“Carl?”

“He’s my best friend. Um…he’s with the rest of my group with my M-Mama” Sophia responded, remembering her Mama Carol, as tears began to build up in her eyes again. Seeing this, Bucky leaned down next to her.

“Well, it’s a good thing you found me then, ain’t it? I’m sure with my help, we’ll find your Mama in no time” Bucky said, as she wrapped the bandage around the wound, but not before looking it over.

‘Seems to just be a nasty bump, nothing that won’t heal in a few days. Best to cover it up just in case though. She’s also malnourished, needs water and food’ Bucky noted, as she also grabbed a bottle of water and put some beans over the fire.

“You-You’d help me find them?”

“Sure. Afterall, us survivors gotta stick together, don’t we?” Bucky replied, as Sophia moved forward and hugged her.

“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” Sophia exclaimed, hugging the woman she only just met.

‘God this girl is way too naive for her own good. She’s damn lucky I’m a good person, if it was anyone else, they'd probably use her for their own gain’ Bucky thought, sighing as she patted the girl on the head with her non-metal arm.

“No problem kid. Now, let’s get some food and water into that tummy of yours. You look like a stick” Bucky said, only to blink as Sophia’s stomach rumbled, causing Bucky to let out a laugh as she handed the girl a water, a piece of jerky, and a can of beans.

“It’s not the best food in the world, but it’ll fill you up” Bucky said, as she bit into her own beans, while Sophia began to eat, surprisingly not minding the teeth.

“Not bad right?” Bucky asked as the girl nodded, biting into her jerky as Bucky just chuckled seeing this, before openin her mouth and speaking again.

“Alright then, lets eat!”

That’s the end of the chapter!

She’s met Sophia and saved her! When or if I continue this, she’ll be going to the Greene farm in around 2 chapters or so.

Another vault fic might be coming tonight, still deciding though.

Anyways, have a good day!
