Chapter 165 [Vault]

[1st POV]

Death hadn’t been something I was expecting to experience at the age of 30 years old. I had been a healthy woman who was in the process of getting my second PHD while also working as a member of congress, a minor member, but a member nonetheless. 

Besides the hard work that I constantly had to put into my job and schooling, I had also found myself busy with things like working out, and even more than that, pursuing my enjoyment of fictional works. 

One of the highest amongst them was Once Upon a Time. It was a dumb show that made little sense most of the time, with one of the most confusing and all over the place family tree’s in all of fiction. But I still loved it. And amongst all the characters within, I loved Regina the most of them all. 

I felt a rather strong sense of kinship with her. As like her, my mother was…well, evil. While my father was a kind loving man. Like her my mother had attempted to force me into a marriage with someone a lot older than I. Thankfully I had managed to get out of that situation by simply disowning her and running off on my own, but still, I adored her character.

Even with her evil actions, I liked her. Had I been a better person, I’d likely dislike her a bit more for some of said actions, but I am not. I am more on the morally grey sort of line, probably a product of my mothers actions, and her constant attempts at forcing me back into the family. 

I hated Snow White, quite a lot. I found her to be annoying as hell, hypocritical, and a horrid mother to Emma. Whereas Regina wasn’t even nearly as annoying, was pretty up front about a lot of things, and was a great mother to Henry, a better one than Snow White ever was or could have been. 

I also quite liked Emma, even if some of her actions were stupid and foolish, I found her to be an interesting character that was the product of her parents actions. I also was amongst those that found her and Regina to be an interesting pair, one that would have been a lot more interesting as a couple. Better than Robin and Hook at least. 

Didn’t help that she was hot. 

But now I am dead. Having died from a rather drunk driver that thought the sidewalk was the road…

Only, it doesn’t look like death is the end for me, as I gazed at the words in front of me.

[3rd POV]

The woman couldn’t continue her thought process as her eyes shot wide, everything beginning to go dark as she felt a pulling sensation, disappearing from the void soon later, the words glimmered faintly before disappearing moments later, leaving the void desolate once again.

Within a large, fancy bedroom, a woman lay. She was a somewhat average 5’5 tall woman, with short dark brown, bordering on black hair. She was an incredibly beautiful woman who looked to be in her 30’s or so, and had a perfect physique for her form. Slowly the woman’s eyes began to creep open, revealing chocolate brown eyes, the brown eyes of…Regina Mills, aka the Evil Queen. 

Opening her eyes, Regina held her head as she remembered her past life, a scowl slowly forming on her face. 

“A fictional character in a tv show…my life is a tv show” Regina muttered to herself as she remembered watching the show, one that had shown her everything about the future, including the introduction of the Saviour, Emma Swan. 

‘…Things will be different this time’ Regina thought, as she remembered the hardships she would be forced to go through if she had done things as she had been.

Before Regina could continue her thought process, she blinked as a notification formed in front of her. 

[Hello host, congratulations on officially awakening! I am the “Gift System” a system specialized in obtaining “Gifts” from others. These are gained simply be interacting with characters of note. The more important the character, the stronger the “Gift”]

[Someone like Emma Swan would give a powerful gift due to her importance to this universe, while someone like Pinocchio would give a much smaller one due to not being nearly as important as her] 

[These gifts will primarily be based around the one “Giving” it]

Regina reading through this, raised an eyebrow ‘Gifts? My system is based around gifts? This is…not as bad as I was anticipating to be honest. If anything, this is better than what I had expected. Especially considering I am in a town full of fairy tail characters’ Regina thought, a small smirk forming on her face as she realized how powerful this gift was going to be. 

‘Perhaps I can use this to regain my magic. At the very least I have to go and see Rumple to see what gift I’ll receive from meeting with the man who is infused with the Darkness’ Regina thought as she got to her feet and walked into her bathroom. 

She had to get ready for making breakfast for Henry, and then going down to the office as she had her Mayor duties to get to. That and she wished to run by Rumple’s pawn shop which he was currently using the name Mr Gold at. 

Beginning the shower, Regina realized that there were also other interesting folks she could meet, like the Fairies, the Werewolf in the form of Ruby, and plenty more interesting people to meet that could give her great gifts, gifts of great power. 

After finishing up her shower, she made her way downstairs, and began to make some pancakes for Henry, who had to head to school in an hour and a half. The pancakes were easy enough to make as she put them to cook, before walking upstairs and creaking the door open, softly speaking. 

“Wake up Henry, it’s time for school” She whispered, shaking his shoulder as he grumbled, slowly sitting up as he rubbed his eyes. 

“I’m up Mom, I’m up” Henry huffed as Regina fought back a small smile. 

“Good, go and take a shower. I’ve got pancakes being made downstairs” Regina said as the boy's eyes lit up. If there was one thing that was consistent about Regina, it was the fact that she was an amazing cook. 

“Okay!” Henry said with a cheer as he ran off to take a shower, excited to have some of his moms delicious pancakes. 

Watching him run off, Regina smiled as she looked at the notification in front of her. 

[Individual: Henry Mills | Gift Obtained!]

‘I suppose I’ll have to claim them all at the same time tonight. As I have no knowledge on what sort of reaction claiming them will bring upon me. It could knock me out for all I know’ Regina thought, deciding to wait until later that night to claim the gifts that she would be gaining all day. Mostly because she’d rather not go unconscious in the middle of the day, the night being a safer time to do so.

Glancing back at the clock, Regina felt a small smile form on her face as she made her way downstairs, one thought on her mind as she did so. 

‘Until then…it’s time to make some pancakes’

Love interest is Emma, obviously. Regina will be pretty strong, but not overpowered. She’s already one of the strongest characters in the OUAT universe, this’ll just make her even more so.
