Chapter 211: Complicated Matters
Added 2025-06-28 05:29:53 +0000 UTC[3rd POV]
While Gwen was enjoying her time with her girls, Carol was back on Earth, silently watching as the team in front of her registered the information that they had just been given. That there was indeed a massive city for mutants on Mars, but it was one that was more technologically advanced than any city on Earth, by literal decades, if not centuries.
Not only that, but the city housed more mutants than what they had initially estimated, and seemingly had a proper power structure, government, economy, and even defenses. Hell, they even seemed to have training in their powers, and understood how to use them more than they had beforehand.
Then there was this council led by this mysterious Gwendolyn Wayne, who they hadn’t’ found much on, meaning her name was likely a fake or something of the sort. They didn’t have any pictures of her face, so they had little to go off of for now.
The fact that there was a literal council of mutants, which seemingly included the ex-terrorist Magneto, Charles Xavier, and many others, some of them being recognizable and some of them not being even remotely familiar. It was all combining to paint a rather…concerning picture.
What was even more concerning was Galactus. Who, from Carol’s explanation, was an entity that would wipe out the entire planet, making the attack on New York look like nothing. An attack that had been stopped by the X-Men, the very same group that was now asking for their help, meaning, this was big, very very big.
“You’re telling us that some big guy dressed in purple is coming here, to Earth, to eat it? That he literally eats worlds for a living?” Tony asked with furrowed eyebrows, disbelieving of the information. Mostly because it sounded…well, ridiculous.
“That is exactly what I am telling you, Stark. This entity, Galactus, he’s-he’s not something we can defeat. Not on our own. Gwen has created weapons, devices that can be used to defeat him, or at the very least, stall. She talked about the fact that we’d need to get him away from Earth in order for them to work, otherwise it sounds like it’ll damage the entirety of Earth” Carol replied with a nod, as as ridiculous as it sounds, that was the truth of the matter.
”You-you mean to tell me that the mutants on Mars have a weapon that is capable of destroying the planet!? And you didn’t think to mention that until now?!” Fury yelled as his eye widened in alarm. A weapon capable of destroying a planet set off all sorts of alarm bells in his mind, and the fact that their new neighbors had it was concerning.
“She built it to defeat Galactus, not to destroy Earth or something. If she wanted to destroy Earth, she would have done it by now” Carol said, defending Gwen. As much as she wanted to be on Fury’s side about how alarming such a thing was, they couldn’t afford that right now. Right now it was far more important to worry about Galactus.
“That doesn’t matter, Danvers. She has a damn weapon that can destroy the planet! Do you even understand what the higher ups in the council will think? What the reactions will be from people like the god damn president for instance?!” Fury yelled, as he slammed his fist against the table.
“Their opinions don’t matter right now Fury! We’ve got the Eater of Worlds himself coming to consume the planet! I think they can wait for a little while, while we save the god damn planet” Carol said in response, even though inwardly she knew that the President wouldn’t be pleased. But it really didn’t matter, even to a hardcore loyalist like her, not right now.
“They do matter! Because they’re the ones who decide if we help for gods sake! And now that they’re going to know about a weapon that can wipe out the planet, there is no way they will!” Fury yelled back, as Tony couldn’t help but pipe up.
“Don’t tell them then, easy as that” Tony said with a shrug, as it really was a simple solution.
“Don’t tell them? You mean don’t tell the president of the United States about this? Don’t tell the council that practically runs this show about this?”
”I mean don’t tell them YET, just wait until after Galactus is done with, and then tell the old bags. I’m sure they can wait a few months so we can deal with a literal world ending threat, rather than one that MIGHT destroy the world, and only if we do anything against them” Tony explained as if he was talking to a toddler, because Fury seemed to be struggling to understand him.
“You-you want us to lie to the council that oversees everything this organization does? Not only that, but you want us to hide the fact that a foreign government exists on Mars, is made up of the millions of mutants that had gone missing, and now has weapons of mass destruction that can potentially destroy the entire planet, are you insane?” Hill asked, looking at the man like he was dumb, in response, he just glanced at her.
“No, I’m just thinking realistically. If this Galactus fellow is as strong as stars over there is saying, then we need all the help we can get, and weapons that can destroy planets will be the best way to fight off a guy that can literally eat planets” Tony replied bluntly.
The rest of the Avengers that was in attendance just listened to the arguing on the side, wondering if they should intervene, but decided not to once they realized that arguing against Fury was a bad idea. Even though they all agreed that Tony was right in this instance, a bit of a rarity when it comes to things involving the Government.
“Sir, you can’t really be thinking of doing that, can you?” Hill asked, upon seeing that Fury had gone silent. The idea of hiding such information from the government was…a little scary, and idiotic.
“I am…as much as I don’t want to admit it because of how arrogant this little bastard is about to act, Stark is right. If we want to defeat this…Eater of Worlds, it’s best that we keep it hidden from the government until the very last second, until we literally cannot hide it anymore. We cannot afford to fight and argue about this…not right now. After Galactus is defeated, we can deal with this “Malzif” and “Gwen” and anything else they’ve got up there that is a huge threat to the safety of our world” Fury replied, sighing as he ignored the smirk that formed on Tony’s face, deciding to instead turn back to Carol.
“Do you think you can persuade the leader of this council to meet with us? We need to talk in person if we want to work together to get rid of the threat” Fury asked, causing Carol to nod slowly.
“I should be able to, but…they’ll likely want to do the meeting in Malzif itself. The city itself seems to let others breathe as if it’s Earth, they have teleportation technology that I imagine will let them bring you up there, and more security than any place on Earth” Carol replied.
“…Fine, get into contact with them. But all of you will be coming with me, best to get as much information as possible, and having you all with me will allow us to do that” Fury said, looking at the Avengers who all nodded in understanding, even Tony and Bruce who usually didn’t want to do anything involving being in public.
Carol nodded as she got to her feet, ready to fly back up to Malzif to talk with those she needed to, all the while, she had one thought on her mind.
‘…Let’s hope this goes well’

That’s the end of the chapter!
Fanon Maker is gonna get updated in a bit. Daughter of God will either get updated today or tomorrow.
Next chapter will be the date.
The last vault chapter should be coming tonight. Speaking of vault chapters, would anyone be interested in one of those “Real World” fics that I’ve seen? As in, the MC is reborn into the past/alternate past of the real world? I’ve been getting them on my feed on Wattpad and read a few, and couldn’t help but wonder if anyone would be interested. If yes, then the love interest would be based around a real world actor/singer so…not sure if people are comfortable with that sort of thing. I’d also leave politics and any of that stuff FAR away from it, as I don’t like even mentioning it, nor will I ever, as everyone has the right to their own opinions, and I’m not going to start arguments over it.
Let me know!
Anyways, have a good day!
