I remember death. The gaping maw of death claimed me, as I fought tooth and nail to attempt to survive, only to fail. Death had overwhelmed me, as I died with a knife in my heart and a grinning man over my figure.

And then something began to change.

A warmth, profound, indescribable had overtaken me, and then…I was reborn. Light had returned to me, the light of the sun basking me in its warmth, but…something was different, I…I was different.

My new form was born within the waters of the Pacific Ocean, my form larger than before, with dark skin that was stronger than before. A large gaping maw, and a body built to withstand the deep depths of the ocean. I had been reborn as…

A shark

A Great White Shark at that. And it was upon my rebirth into a new…strange world, that I knew, deep deep down, that everything…was going to change.

That I was going to change. As words glimmered into my new vision, I knew there and then, that I would become….

[3rd POV]

Deep off the shore of the coast of California, within the depths of the ocean, a great white shark floated within, it’s eyes shut as if it was dead, but instead, it was in a deep comfortable sleep.

A deep sleep that soon was interrupted, as its eyes began to flutter open, revealing its dark eyes. It began to blink rapidly, as it looked around, its large head looking around in what almost seemed like confusion.

This shark was no normal shark. No, it was a woman that had died moments before, reborn into a new…aquatic figure, as the woman turned shark blinked rapidly in complete and utter confusion on how this had happened, on what had happened.

She could feel it, the strange oddity of her new form, and once looked around told her everything she needed to know about it. About the fact that she was in the Ocean, that she quite literally had fins, and that she was seemingly…a shark.

’How…how did this happen?’ She thought in shock, her new rows of massive teeth showing as she questioned her new state, and the fact that she was now a god damn shark.

‘One moment I was dying at the hands of that…prick, and now I’m…here? In the ocean? Not only that but I’m…a shark?’ She wondered, confused on what had happened, on how this was possible.

Sure, she had watched and read plenty of fictional works in her past life, but that was mostly things about monsters, shows and movies like Pacific Rim, Jurassic Park, Godzilla, anything to do with monsters and kaiju she loved. It was what she had grown up on from a young age, and had been one of her favorite things.

But she had never seen something like this. Being reborn as a literal shark, a large Great White at that. She was thankful it wasn’t as something like a salmon but still…she would have preferred to actually be on…you know, land.

As the woman swam around, getting used to her new body, her new large eyes blinked in surprise as words formed in front of her.

[Congratulations on your rebirth! Due to your…unique circumstances, you have been given a gift in the form of a very special system!]

[The system in question has some very very unique and simple functions. The functions are as follows]

[Gene Absorption - Through the system, the user can absorb the genes and traits of the species they kill and/or consume. These traits are then transformed into “Skills” which can be leveled to a maximum level of 5 before they can be evolved to a higher form]

[EV - Evolution Points are the currency obtained through killing creatures, completing specific quests, and surviving every year. They can be used to level up your skills, evolve your form into it’s next step of evolution, and can be used to travel to other universes. They can also be used to buy traits of other species from other universes, but only those that are of a certain level, more unlock the stronger the user becomes]

[Status - A status page that keeps track of your current species, age, skills, universe, the year, and more]

[That is all, enjoy your new life…Ceto]

The shark now known as Ceto stared at the screen in front of her for a few more moments, as she wondered what she had done to deserve this…but at the same time, she couldn’t help but owner if maybe…just maybe this was a new beginning, a…good thing.

And as she thought this, she couldn’t help but feel a little excited, as she looked at her status.

Electroreception - Can detect the bioelectric fields of others, allowing the user to see muscle contractions of prey. [LVL 1]

‘…Basic, but not surprising. It’s enough to work with for now, at least until I figure out where I am, as there is simply no way I am in some simple universe with nothing unique about it’ Ceto thought, as if she was in some simple universe, she wouldn’t have been given something so powerful.

She suspected it would be either Pacific Rim or the Monsterverse, she was honestly hoping for the former. But who knows which one it would be, as she floated through the depths.

Looking around, her large teeth soon began to form into what almost looked like an eerie grin, as she began to swim through the ocean, one thought on her mind as she did so.

‘…lets go hunt!’

And hunt she did.

It didn’t take long for Ceto to realize that she was seemingly off the coast of California, especially after she had swum around and found the beach that was full of people. She had left it alone, and instead moved to the deeper oceans, and began to consume any and all smaller creatures she could find.

She had spent quite some time finding and hunting smaller creatures that had anything she could use to her advantage, and it was through her travels that she had found that she was likely quite some time in the past.

Around the early 2000’s if her estimation was correct. Far in the past, but not surprising.

The first creature she had eaten over the time period was a Squid, which had given her her first skill and some EV Points.

Ink Production - Can produce dark ink used to blind and distract foes. [LVL 1]

EV Points Gained - 0.5

Turns out eating smaller animals did NOT give very much EV Points…at all, and that was…not a good thing for her, as she found that upon consuming another squid, all it had done was give her another of it’s traits, which was Jet Propulsion, and 0.3 EV Points instead of 0.5, which meant that after the first consumption, it went down by a little, but thankfully it didn’t go down again.

Jet Propulsion - Can gather water to use to propel the user akin to a a Squid, increasing their speeds by a large amount [LVL 1]

Months of traveling and consuming had given Ceto a number of skills and EV Points.

Total EV Points - 250.7

Thick Skin - Thickens the users skin to withstand higher force. Obtained from a Whale Shark [LVL 1]

Venomous Sting - Grants the user venomous stinging cells all over their figure. Obtained from a Box Jellyfish [LVL 1]

Venomous Bite - The users bites are venomous [LVL 1]

Venomous Fins - The users fins have venomous spines on their fins. Obtained from a Stonefish [LVL 1]

Regeneration - Allows the user to regenerate at a heightened pace, can currently regenerate limbs and parts of their body [LVL 1]

She found that not every animal would give her a trait, and only the stronger/more dangerous ones would, like venomous ones, large powerful creatures, and such, which is why she had only obtained 7 skills in this time. Leveling each skill would cost her 50 EV Points initially, then 100, and then 200. Meaning she would need a lot more than 250, but…getting 250 was…not an easy task, as most of the animals didn’t give her much.

But she ended up leveling her thick skin twice to level 3, and her powerful bite to level 2, which had boosted her bite strength to 8,000 PSI.

And as of this moment, 6 months later, she had finally figured out where she was. A large island was within her site, one that any fan of the movies would know, the island of…

This was the first of the vault chapters of this type I’m making, with them all being in Jurassic Park, Pacific Rim, or the Monsterverse. Some of them will also have fusions of worlds, so you’ll see that sooner or later.
