Episode 20: Ringwell Awaits

Here are my notes for tonight's episode. Trying out some new ideas in here, like the Command roll and the idea of the team leaders having this cinematic face-off, we'll see how it goes.

My expectation is that the arrival of the Blackiron Pact will signal the end of this episode. Boots will face off against the Master of Jackals, and then we'll see you next week!

But who knows, that's a lot of fighting between now and then. Probably boring to watch as the entire session could be nothing but combat, but we'll see. I like dungeons! :D

I have some crazy ideas about how to run the battle between the Pact and the Chain, but I couldn't get it all figured out in time for the show tonight. Basically expanding the Retainer system so that a given character has their "every round" action, a bonus action, a reaction, and a villain action. The villain actions are like Legendary Actions except they're keyed to a given round. Each member of the enemy team is assigned a round and on that round, they get to use their Villain action. So each round, a different member of the Pact does some Dope Shit. Villain abilities can get nastier the later in the battle they happen, since each round is progressively less likely than the previous. I.e. it's VERY likely the players will reach Round One, very UNlikely they'll reach Round Six.

We'll see. I started working on it and it was very promising. But there's tons of content to get through just tonight, I think? We'll see.
