Chapter 58 [Vault]

[3rd POV] [Maeve’s Apartment]

Maeve was currently in her room, watching the news as it covered the appearance of a mystery hero who saved the plane that was crashing. It was also rather…antagonistic towards her, angry that she technically caused damage to the nearby bridge.

‘They don’t really care much about the fact that she saved at least 100 lives, do they? She caused less than 100,000 dollars in damages and saved 100 people at the least. If that’s not a good act, then these people will never believe her to be good’ Maeve thought with a small scowl, hating people like that. Always being so antagonistic and negative about everything, pointing out all the bad, and none of the good.

While Maeve was thinking about this, a certain Supergirl, was freaking out in her apartment after realizing that she lost the note containing the number of her “Not date” that she was “Not attracted to”.

‘With my new powers, I guess I should prepare to aid her. She shouldn’t need it just yet, but I won’t be surprised if something AU happens thanks to my existence. I should be ready to intervene if she ever needs it. I should be more than strong enough to fight any of the foes she has as of now. A Kryptonian would be a genuine foe for me, but nothing weaker than that will be a problem’ Maeve thought with a hum

‘For now though, I should start training a bit. With the way my ability works, it shouldn’t take long to get to the same skill level as Wonder Woman and Valkyrie, both of which are more skilled than most in this universe’ Maeve thought with a hum, deciding that she would continue her martial arts training the next morning.

‘Let’s get some sleep, tomorrow I can continue my training’

[The next morning] [3rd POV]

It was the next morning after Kara had saved the plane, and Maeve was on her way to a local coffee place.

She had woken up early in the morning for her martial arts training, which had gone swimmingly. She had rapidly improved in skill, so much so, that she doubted she needed more than a week or so to get to the same level as Valkyrie and Wonder Woman.

Now she was about to grab some coffee, and then find something else to do.

Walking into the rather large cafe, she walked to the counter and ordered.

Waiting for her order, she blinked as she watched a very recognizable person walk to the counter.

“Kara?” Maeve said, now remembering that this cafe was where Kara got coffee and other food at. Noonans was what it was called.

“Maeve?” Kara replied in surprise, not thinking she would see the “Totally not hot” new friend of hers.

“Didn’t think I’d see you here. Getting coffee?” Maeve asked, as she grabbed her coffee from the barista.

“Mmhm, I get it for my boss too. Miss Grant” Kara replied with a nod.

“As in Cat Grant? That’s quite the job, are you her assistant?”

“Yep! It’s hard work, but she’s not so bad once you get to know her” Kara replied with a smile, remembering her boss.

“What do you think about it?” Maeve asked, looking at the tv where Kara was saving the plane on.

Kara blinked and sputtered for a few moments, before replying “I-I think it’s really cool! National City has it’s own hero now, just like how Metropolis has Superman”

“They’ve got their Superman, and we’ve got our Supergirl” Maeve said with a hum, smiling as she watched the video.

“Supergirl? Why not Superwoman?” Kara asked, liking the sound of Superwoman more.

“Supergirl sounds better. Plus, she is a girl, so I don’t see what’s wrong with it. And if your boss is the type of person I think she is, she’ll call her Supergirl rather than Superwoman” Maeve replied with a chuckle.

“I doubt it, she’d like superwoman more” Kara said with a shake of her head.

“Oh? Wanna bet?”

“A bet?” Kara blinked.

“Mmhmm. I bet your boss will call her Supergirl and you think she’s going to call her Superwoman” Maeve replied.

“What do I get if I win the bet?” Kara asked with a raised eyebrow, interest growing.

“Hmm, how about I’ll treat you to an all-you-can-eat of whatever food you like the most”

“Potstickers? Deal!” Kara said immediately, loving Potstickers way too much.

“And if I win, I want a repeat of yesterday, but as an actual date this time” Maeve added, causing Kara to blink. A soft dusting of pink coated her cheeks as she thought about what Maeve said, before nodding.

“Deal!” She said, as they shook on it.

“Oh, and can you give me your number again, I sort of lost it” Kara said in slight embarrassment.

Maeve raised an eyebrow and chuckled “Here” Maeve said, handing her a napkin with her number on it.

Kara looked at it, trying her best to commit it to memory.

“Kara, don’t you have to get that to your boss?” Maeve said, amusement swimming in her eyes as Kara blinked before her eyes widened.

“Oh R-god! Thank you, I’ll hold you to that deal!” Kara said before running off, leaving a chuckling Maeve in her wake.

‘She is adorable’ Maeve thought with a small smile, as she walked out of the cafe.

‘I guess I’ll be getting that date in a few days’ Maeve thought with a grin, having basically rigged the deal. But she really wanted another date with Kara, as she genuinely enjoyed the last one.

‘I wish I got a power that was easier to grow, as with the powers I have now, there isn’t much training I can do. Considering I can lift tens of thousands of tons, if not hundreds, any normal training is useless. My martial arts is already rapidly growing and will get to the same level as Wonder Woman and Valkyrie soon. Meaning…I need to find a hobby or something’ Maeve thought, realizing that she was…bored, very very bored.

‘If I had more knowledge like Tony Starks, then I would just start a company and become a billionaire, but I can’t do that just yet’ Maeve thought with a sigh, knowing she needed to get an actually super intelligent character to do that.

As she noticed the papers, Maeve began to think about an idea that came to mind.

‘Maybe…hmm, perhaps I’ll be seeing Kara more than I thought’

The words “Catco Worldwide Media” were on the paper, as she grinned at a fun “hobby” she could use.

‘Let’s see what it takes to get a job there’

This chapter was a bit harder to write, to be honest, but I got it in the end.

Next chapter should be longer and will cover some more stuff. She probably won’t show off her powers for quite some time, and will instead interact with Kara in her human/normal persona.
