Chapter 61 [Vault]

[3rd POV] [A few days later]

A few days had passed since Thea had told Yelena about her mom, and her being a bit of a bitch about their tutoring.

During that time, Yelena had continued her training and had continued to gather as much knowledge as she possibly could. She had been focusing primarily on going to the local college, dojos, gyms, and recruitment centers for the military.

She had gathered a bit more martial arts knowledge, and quite a bit more gym knowledge, improving her workouts and methods for building muscle. She had also learned quite a bit about military practices, by going to the local recruitment center. Her knowledge in science, math, and other areas also improved after traveling to the local College again.

Besides gathering more knowledge and building up muscle, she had also begun to gather some wealth for herself and planned on eventually creating her own company. She still had quite some time for it to develop as well.

Malcolm Merlyn’s company would be ripe for the taking with some of the shit he’s been up to, so she planned on absorbing it into her own company, once the “Undertaking” begins, and his stocks plummet. After all, it had some useful technology and scientists.

For now, though, she had a much more important undertaking, which was…talking to Thea’s mother.

After a few days, Thea finally got her mom to set up a test for Yelena, to prove that she could teach her. Just as she had set up a meeting between the two so that she could see for herself the type of person Yelena was.

The test itself, surprisingly enough, was at the Queen’s own home. Said home was large, and almost reminded Yelena of Batman’s manor, or a sort of castle.

She had been given the address, and nothing else.

Pulling up in her 1969 mustang, Yelena surveyed the surroundings, and almost immediately copied the knowledge of a few people inside. Walter Steele, a few of the guards, and some of the staff. None of the knowledge was crazy helpful, but Walter’s was good for business management and for the future.

Getting out of her car, she walked to the door and knocked.

The door was almost immediately opened by Thea, who had a nervous expression on her face. “Yelena, come in”

“Nice place, pretty…castle-like” Yelena said with a hum, taking in the large entrance, two sets of stairs on both sides that led up to the second floor.

Walking besides Thea, she noticed the shorter girls nervous expression, as they were led into their dining room, where a woman and man were standing.

“You must be Yelena, Thea has spoken about you quite a lot” The British accent of Walter Steele spoke, as they shook hands.

“Good things I hope?” Yelena said with a smile, glancing at Thea who rolled her eyes with a small smile.

“It’s nice to formally meet you, Mrs Queen” Yelena said, turning to Moira who looked her over, before speaking.

“Are you Russian?” Moira asked, causing Yelena to blink.

“Ah yes, I am” Yelena said with a nod.

“And what makes you think you can tutor my daughter?” Moira asked, getting straight into business, as Yelena moved to sit across from Moira, while Walter and Thea sat on the side.

“I am already tutoring your daughter, Mrs Queen, quite well might I add. In the time I have been teaching her, my student has gone from C’s and D’s in Trigonometry to B+ to A’s. Not only that, but I have helped her with her other classes, helping her make them go to roughly the same level” Yelena spoke.

Moira practically rolled her eyes as she spoke “And how do I know you didn’t do it for my daughter? That she didn’t cheat? I know my daughter, and I know she is not good enough to get grades that high, that quickly”

Yelena looked at her, a frown forming on her face. Thea on the side looked like she was ready to cry, as she fought back tears of embarrassment and anger, at the fact her own mother was basically calling her stupid. Walter frowned just as much as Yelena did.

“Perhaps you should trust in your daughter? I, not once, have ever given her the direct answer to a problem, or held her hand in getting the answer. For every problem I aid her in understanding the process to get the answer, and why that is the answer. Your daughter is smart, smart enough to understand the problems I give her after a little bit of practice. She certainly is not stupid like you basically just said, she’s a hard worker, and deserves better than to be accused of cheating, and being called stupid, all because she has started to do well” Yelena said, struggling to hold back to the scowl that was forming on her face.

Thea on the side, couldn’t help but smile as her friend defended her, and so…passionately. Walter noticed the expression on his daughter figures face, and smiled softly, coming to a realization.

“I will do whatever test you have for me, and I do not care if you insult me. But I draw the line at insulting my student, and my friend” Yelena ended, glaring at the woman who was now officially on her shit list.

Moira stared flabbergasted, before grabbing a small stack of papers and pen and sliding it onto the coffee table in front of them.

Looking down at it, Yelena raised an eyebrow at the questions. Most of them were college-level but weren’t particularly difficult for her, not with the knowledge she had.

“Finish this with 100% of the questions correct, and I will not only allow you to tutor my daughter, but I will allow you to tutor her in this home as well” Moira said, not believing that Yelena could answer the questions.

“But if you get 1 single question wrong, you will cut all ties with my daughter, and will not tutor her any longer. As I am sure she can do just fine on her own, without someone else’s help” Moira added, causing Yelena to raise an eyebrow.

“Deal”

Roughly 45 minutes later, a fully completed stack of papers sat in front of a flabbergasted Moira. While Yelena and Thea were both grinning widely, with even Walter struggling not to smirk.

The papers were easy enough for someone like Yelena, with the highest level problem at the very end being at the level of a PhD level College Student. However, for someone with knowledge of several PhD students and teachers in the area, as well as scientists who are skilled in the area, the problems were easy enough.

“...They’re all correct” Moira said in shock, as she read through the paper, comparing it to the answer sheet she had made.

“Well then Mrs Queen, it seems that I will be upstairs tutoring your daughter” Yelena said with a smug grin as she began to walk off.

Moira couldn’t do anything but watch Yelena walk out of the room, as Thea slowly followed her, but not before turning to her.

“Thanks for the confidence Mom. It really showed me just how much you love me, and just how much I should care about you” Thea said with a smile as she walked out, following after her tutor.

“Do not look to me, Moira. What you said about Thea was wrong, and you know it” Walter said, shaking his head as he too walked out of the room, leaving Moira all alone.

[Within Thea’s room]

Walking into Thea’s room, Yelena raised an eyebrow at the surroundings, before turning back to Thea, who’s lip wobbled slightly.

“Are you alright, Thea?” Yelena asked softly, moving closer to the girl.

“No, not really” Thea replied, as tears slowly began to leak from her eyes.

“It’s alright love, come here” Yelena whispered as Thea moved closer, burying her face into Yelena’s chest.

Slowly sobs began to rack Thea’s body as tears streaked out of her eyes, onto Yelena’s clothes. Yelena ignored it as she held her friend in her arms, softly running a hand through the girls hair, and whispering soft, comforting words.

“Let it all out love, let it all out”

All my homies hate Moira.

The ending was a bit of a struggle to write, but I got it in the end. Next chapter should be roughly the same length if not longer.

Should she and Thea get together quickly or should it take longer? Honestly, I was thinking of having them together before Oliver shows up, as in the next chapter. As Thea got together with Roy pretty quickly in canon, and I think she really needs that love, so she’d sort of cling to the first one to give it to her, Yelena being that person in this case.

Yelena thoroughly destroyed Moira in multiple ways this chapter, and now has the support of Walter.

Also, are there any ideas y’all have in regards to a vault chapter you might want to see? If it’s interesting enough or is something I’m willing to write, I might just make it! But to be clear, I only write Straight fics in the case of a male mc, or Girl x Girl fics in the case of a female mc. So take that into account.
