Chapter 64 [Vault]

Title - The Umbrella Academy: Zero the Dimension Jumper

Zero had a not so fun life, not fun at all.

She had started her life to a deceased mother, and a father who gave her up to a rather sociopathic billionaire man named “Reginald Hargreeves” the name of someone she remembered from her past life.

You heard that right, past life. She remembered a life where she was a normal person, with normal problems, and a normal life. Besides her deep love for fiction and being lesbian, although the latter wasn’t really that weird at the time of her “death”. Only to wake up as a child, being taken in by a man she knew from the show “Umbrella Academy”.

After being taken in, Zero had dealt with her siblings, and the fact that unlike them, she had absolutely no powers. Nothing at all, nothing that Reginald could find, test, or see. A fact that the man had not been fond of, leading to his…dislike of her, being more than any other sibling in the Academy.

Her siblings were pretty kind to her for the most part, especially Ben, Klaus, Vanya, and Allison. Diego, Five, and Luthor were not particularly hateful towards her or anything, but the latter two had mostly ignored her existence, while the former was mostly hanging out with Vanya, but they still had their sibling bonding moments.

Pogo, their monkey teacher/sensei/butler, was easily her favorite person in the Academy. As while she didn’t have powers, her mind was beyond any of her other siblings, and the primeape knew it. Using this, he had taught her more than any of the others. Teaching her more martial arts than them, more science than them, more in everything. And thanks to her superior mind, she rapidly understood it.

That only lasted so long, before her darling “Father” got word of their teaching sessions, in which he punished her by locking her in a cold, dark room for an entire day, before cutting the two off from such sessions in the future.

And so, Zero Hargreeves, had lived an entire 16 years in the Academy under the rule of her father, before she left to live on her own. Only a year before most the others. Only having stayed due to wanting to finish her lessons with Pogo.

After leaving, Zero had continued her studies, and thanks to her intelligence, she had managed to become more successful than most of her siblings. As she actually made into, and graduated from College, MIT at that. Getting a PHD in Physics, Mathematics, and a Masters in Computer Science and Chemistry.

She had only stayed in school due to her genuine enjoyment of it, as otherwise, she would have only gotten a single PHD. That, and she wanted to show her father that she was more than just some powers.

With her intelligence, memories of her past life, and wealth that Pogo had gifted her, Zero had taken full advantage. As the current world was behind her original life in a lot of ways, and through this, she developed and created “Zero Industries”.

A company that was dedicated to the development of technology. Be it phones, computers, TV’s, or whatever else. A company that was the largest on the planet by her 25th birthday. And a company that made her richer than her father ever was.

A company that developed phones like the “Z-Phone” and the “Z-Pad” that were comparable, and even better than the I-phones she had in her past life. As thanks to her still having perfect memory of her previous life, she still remembered the things they had, and how to improve upon it.

However, something…happened on her 25th birthday. Something that would change everything for her.

[3rd POV]

Within a large penthouse, a woman laid in her bed. Long dark brown hair cascading behind her, a tall 5’11 figure with noticeable muscle on her arms, legs, and abs. But most noticeably, the woman had sweat trickling down her forehead, as a soft golden glow emanated off her figure.

*Gasp*

A gasp escaped Zero’s lips as she shot up, as her eyes shot open, glowing a soft golden color.

“What the hell…” Zero muttered, noticing the sweat trickling down her body.

‘Wh-what is happening?’ Zero thought with a frown as she groaned in pain, her back curving slightly as she began to writhe as pain assaulted her form, the golden glow beginning to grow more and more.

‘Don’t tell me my powers are developing now!’ Zero thought as she grit her teeth. Realizing what this might be.

She still perfectly remembered the show, and remembered that Marigold gave them their powers, and there was a good chance that was happening to her at the moment.

As the pain began to slowly increase, Zero’s form began to flicker in an out of reality, as if she was being transported somewhere.

‘Oh fu-‘ Zero couldn’t continue her thoughts as her form disappeared from her bedroom, and everything changed.

’Where-Where the hell am I?’ Zero questioned, as she took in her surroundings. Floating aimlessly in a vast, seemingly infinite white space.

Zero couldn’t continue her thoughts as knowledge began to flood into her brain. Knowledge on the power she had developed, knowledge on where she currently was.

As the memories flooded in, Zero couldn’t stop the grin from forming on her face. ‘Dimensional Travel…my power is dimensional travel’

It was more than mere dimensional travel however, as the power itself was…strong, very very strong.

Dimensional Jump: The user of this ability can “jump” to any dimension in existence, their body will instantaneously adapt to said dimension, making them stronger. The negative effects a dimension may have on the user, will not affect them. This also grants them maximum affinity to all dimensions and their energies. (Such as the speed force, mirror dimension, etc). The user can and will develop powers from traveling to different dimensions. Ranging from minor light manipulation, to far far stronger, like time manipulation.

‘This power…if it is dimensional travel, then that must mean…I’m in another dimension’ Zero thought as gazed at her surroundings once more.

‘What type of dimension, is the real question’ Zero thought, thinking about where she could possibly be.

‘There’s a few possibilities. But this is more than likely some sort of Light dimension. Hence why it looks to be only an infinite white pace. That “White” is light’ Zero thought, realizing that was more than likely the case.

‘I doubt I’ll develop any powers inside the dimension itself. Meaning I probably need to return to the real world for that. I already feel…different, so I must have already adapted to this place, and am now unconsciously absorbing the dimensional energies of this place’ Zero hummed, as she began to try to figure out how to get back.

‘Perhaps it’s intent and will? If I intend to go back home, and will for it to happen, it should work’ Zero thought after a few moments, thinking of a way to get back.

Most powers work based off of intent and will, plus a bit of creativity. And if her power is anything like she was thinking, then that should be enough to get back home like she wants.

‘Alright, let’s get back home’ Zero thought, as she shut her eyes, and willed herself home.

It took but a few moments, before she flashed a gold light and disappeared from the dimension.

Reappearing back within her apartment, Zero sighed as she looked around “Alright then, that worked much better than I was anticipating”

Zero stopped as she looked down at her hand, and blinked as she saw that it was glowing with light. ‘Looks like I’ve developed a power. Seemingly minor light manipulation? Reminds me a bit of the light powers of Dagger from Marvel, and Starlight from The Boys’

‘That dimension must have just been a minor Light dimension. Had I went to a stronger one, I probably would have developed stronger powers than this’ Zero thought, as she slowly formed balls of light around her, her eyes glowing a soft golden color.

‘…There should be an infinite amount of dimensions out there. Meaning…I’ll have an infinite potential for growth of power. Perhaps there’s even a dimension based off of thought, intelligence, or psionic energy? That should be the first place I try to connect to, as those powers will prove useful for what’s coming, and for my company’ Zero thought, knowing that the apocalypse was going to eventually happen.

She would try her damndest to stop it from happening, having already been keeping an eye on Harold Jenkins, the man that starts it all with her sister, Vanya.

‘For now though…let’s test more of these light powers’

That’s the end of the chapter!

I ended up finishing the last season of Umbrella Academy last night (as it came out last night), and I wanted to make something involving the show, as I’m a huge fan of it.

Love interest is between three people: Allison Hargreeves, Lyla, and Sloane (From season 3). Probably going to be Allison, more than likely. As she’s hot, and I want to make her character a bit better, and save her from the crap that happened in season 3 (when she became pretty unlikeable).

Next chapter will be a time skip to the first episode, but will also have some details on powers she has developed, dimensions she has traveled to, and stuff like that.
