Chapter 72 [Vault]

Title - Valkyrie Mikaelson: Mistress of Essences | Chapter 3

[3rd POV] 

Within a small village, a tall, 5’10 woman, with shoulder-length blonde-brown hair, powerful blue eyes, noticeable muscle, and an overall perfect figure, stood. Soft pants escaped her lips as she slashed a longsword in training, this, was Valkyrie Mikaelson, the twin sister to Niklaus Mikaelson, and reincarnator.

‘Soon…it’s going to happen soon’ Valkyrie, nicknamed Val, thought. 

She knew that the time was coming for everything to fall apart. For her brother Henrik to potentially die, for her beloved twin brother Niklaus to activate his curse, for her mother to place the curse upon him, and for her family to change. She knew that the chances of her surviving it was…unlikely. 

Her father might not have beaten her like her brother, but she knew the man hated her, as had her mother. She suspected it was due to her closeness to Ayana, the one she considered her mother more than her Esther. 

‘Whether or not I survive, depends on how quickly my essences return to me. As every instinct within this body of mine, is telling me that my mother will not allow me to turn into an Original’ Val thought, knowing her mother enough to know she wouldn’t let two hybrids to exist. 

Sure, she herself hadn’t awakened her Werewolf side, but it was only a matter of time. And when that time came, her mother would do the same to her as she did to her brother. Unless of course, she wasn’t turned at all, leaving her a regular human until she kills someone. 

“Val?!” A feminine voice sounded out, causing Val to look to her side, as a wide smile formed on her face. Her sister, Rebekah, was running towards her. 

“Yes, dear sister?” Val’s thick accented voice sounded out. Turning to her sister, she wiped the sweat from her brow and sheathed her sword. 

“Your foolish twin has asked to spar again” Rebekah said, causing Val to grin. 

“You mean he has asked to get his arse kicked again? Well so be it” Val said, as she began to walk with the giggling Rebekah. 

“Not even father can defeat you with the sword, how can brother think he can?” Rebekah asked, having remembered the fight Val and Mikael had with swords. With what little Val had shown off, she had completely and utterly decimated the man in combat, and it was not even remotely close. 

Had she had the full might of the Musashi Miyamoto Essence, then he would have been defeated within a literal second. But in their actual battle, it was more like 30 seconds. 

“He knows he cannot defeat me, Bekah. But, he does it because he wishes to improve, and I am the best at making him better” Val responded, smiling at her sisters huff.  

“Still, he could try fighting Elijah or even Finn! Everytime you fight him it is just…sad” Rebekah said, remembering the dozens of times Val and Klaus had fought, and how he lost every single time. 

“They don’t give him the challenge I do, Bekah, we both know that. Afterall, not even those two are his opponents with the sword anymore. Hell, I don’t think Father can defeat him anymore” Val replied, knowing that Klaus was far more skilled in the sword, in this world than in canon, due to her influence. 

“Truly?” Rebekah asked in surprise. Mikael was considered the best swordsman in the village after Val herself. 

“Truly sister” Valkyrie said with a nod, only to grin softly at the sight of her brother Klaus and her older brother Elijah sparring, their blades clashing together as they fought. 

“You enjoying the show, little brother?” Valkyrie asked, causing her little brother, Henrik, to jump. 

“Siiister! You know I hate when you do that!” Henrik said with a pout, causing Rebekah to giggle, and Val to grin as she rubbed his hair. 

“Yes I know, but it is just too funny to not do it everytime” Valkyrie responded, as she noticed Klaus cut the belt off of Elijah with a grin. 

“I’ve come to laugh at you, brother” Klaus said with a grin, causing Rebekah to giggle, and Elijah to smile. On the other side of them, Mikael and Esther watched. 

Slowly everyone’s faces dropped as Mikael walked forward, causing Val to watch the man closely, ready to step in at any moment. 

Walking forward and grabbing the blade out of Elijah’s hand, Mikael turned his back to Val and faced towards Klaus. “So! Why don’t you show me that trick, young warrior” Seconds after saying this, he slashed sideways towards Klaus, only to have it blocked.

“Sister…” Rebekah whispered as Val watched closely. 

“He will not do anything, Rebekah. Father knows what will happen if he does” Val responded, not taking her eyes off the fight. The last time the man had hurt Klaus severely, Val had beaten the man to near death, all with a simple sword. 

“Father we were just…having fun” Klaus responded, looking to the side. 

“We fight for our survival. And you find time for fun!? I want to have fun! Teach me! Come on!” Mikael roared as he stared down Klaus with fury in his eyes. 

“Father it was nothing” Klaus said in response, while Mikael just roared and began to attack Klaus once again. 

If this was a different world, a world without Val, Klaus would have been the one to lose his blade. But this was not canon, and Klaus was not as weak as he was. 

Val grinned widely as she watched the blade within Mikaels hand, go flying. Klaus on the other hand, was wide-eyed as he looked down to his own sword, having never defeated Mikael before. 

“You were right…” Rebekah said in shock, as a furious Mikael walked off, stomping his feet, Esther running after him. 

“Well…that was quite the show” A voice sounded out behind the trio, causing Valkyrie to chuckle. 

“Nice try Kol, but you still can’t sneak up on me”

“Hmph, I’ll scare you one of these days, sister” Kol replied with a huff, having hoped to scare the girl. 

Val just rolled her eyes and walked to Klaus, who was still looking shocked. 

“I beat him…”

“Of course you did, Nik. I told you, didn’t I? You’re the best swordsmen in the village after me” Val said, causing her twin to turn to her, a small grin slowly forming on his face. 

“You’re next, sister!” Klaus said with a grin, as he raised his sword once more. 

Valkyrie in response, took her own blade out, as they began their daily sparring, once more.

[Later that day]

Sitting around the dinner table, Valkyrie felt the glares of her mother and Mikael. But ignored them. 

“Ah, Finn. How was your day? You were gone for quite a while” Val asked, ignoring her parents. 

“It was quite good sister. I was learning more about the local plants from Ayana” Finn responded, smiling slightly at his sister. If there was any sibling that was the favorite of each of the siblings, it was Val. She was there for well…all of them. 

“Good! Odin knows we need more knowledge in that area. Remember when Kol attempted to eat Holly Berries?” Val asked, causing the man to let out a small laugh. 

“Mother yelled at him for nearly an hour, only for Ayana to do the same an hour later” Finn said, remembering it fondly. 

“Ah yes, enjoy my suffering, will you?” Kol said with a huff but didn’t stop a small grin from forming on his face. 

“I will, thank you brother” Valkyrie said with her own grin, causing him to roll his eyes. 

“And what of you, sister? What were you doing today?” Elijah asked, knowing that his sister was gone for most of the day. 

In response, Valkyrie just smiled “Some training, as usual” 

“So boooring!” Kol said with an exaggerated yawn. 

“Better than hitting on the village women” Val bit back, causing Kol to roll his eyes, knowing his sister would do it too if she could. 

The entirety of the children of the family knew of Val’s attraction to women, and her lack of said attraction to men. They all had sworn to keep it a secret from their parents, as they knew what sort of reaction they’d have, especially Mikael. 

“Are we prepared for the Full Moon tomorrow?” Mikael asked in a serious tone to Esther, cutting off the conversation for a much more serious one. 

“We are, dear” Esther responded with a nod. 

“Good” Mikael responded simply. 

Val hearing this, breathed in deeply, knowing that tomorrow was the day in which everything would change. Fate was a bitch, and she was certain that no matter how hard she tries…her brother would die. 

‘The only thing I can do is try my hardest to stop it…and to pray that his death doesn’t come to pass’

If only fate was that kind…
