Chapter 79 [Vault]

Title - Valkyrie Mikaelson: Mistress of Essences | Chapter 9

[3rd POV]

“H-how? How is this possible?” Klaus asked in shock, as the rest of the family did as well. 

“Hell if I know. But what I do know, is that Mother is not the only Mikaelson witch anymore. Not only that, but I like to think that I’m quite a powerful one as well” Valkyrie responded, grinning as the flames danced in her palms, manipulating them with ease. 

“And what spells do you know? Because no offense sister, but incendia alone won’t do anything to mother” Kol asked, causing Valkyrie to shrug. 

“I read a couple of grimoires I found. Took me an hour or two to master the spells inside, but there was some useful ones” Valkyrie replied, causing Kol to blink several times. 

“Mastered spells in…two hours?” Kol asked, confused. Most spells took much longer to master, especially the harder ones. Hell, even a simple spell could take days, if not weeks to learn, much less master. And now his sister was trying to tell him she had learned AND mastered two grimoires worth of spells within a couple of hours. 

“Yep, they were pretty simple all things considered. But what I am saying is, with the right materials, I am confident I can stop, and defeat mother before she does anything” Valkyrie said, causing them to all look at one another, before Finn began to speak. 

“She spoke to me about using…darker magic to forcefully use the magic of the Bennett line as well…if she has that sort of power on her side, sister, then I fear not even your new magical prowess will be able to stop her” Finn spoke, causing Val to sigh. 

“I had feared something like that. It looks like I’ll also have to protect the Bennett girl, what was her name again?” 

“Bonnie”

“Bonnie, I’ll have to protect her. Afterall, I owe the Bennett line for me being alive at this moment, as without their magic, Ayana wouldn’t have been able to keep me alive” Val said, causing Elijah’s eyes to furrow. 

“And why would they aid you? You are a werewolf, a species the witches are not fond of” Elijah asked, causing Val to shrug. 

“I think it might be because of Ayana basically being my mother? Or perhaps they know something I do not? Whatever reason it may be, I owe them, so I shall keep the promise I made, which is to aid the last daughter of the Bennett bloodline, and that is Bonnie” Valkyrie said, causing them to sigh. 

“Just be careful, will you sister? That little doppleganger can be…manipulative” Rebekah said softly, remembering when Elena stabbed her in the back…literally. 

Val let out a small laugh at this “Sister, this is me we are talking about. The only one in the family that could see through every single lie any of you told me, not even Mikael and Esther were able to see those tells of yours” Valkyrie said, causing them to fondly smile, remembering the times when she caught them on their fibs. 

“Like the time I had said I didn’t go out with Tatia, only for you to point out the hickey on my neck” Elijah said with a chuckle. 

“So as you can see, I am hard to manipulate, more so than any of you, even with you being old geezers” Val said teasingly. 

“I am not old!” “No sister, you still look absolutely gorgeous even after all these years” Valkyrie said, as Rebekah huffed. Rebekah smiled at the compliment, as it was genuine, unlike most people she ran into now a days. 

“Now, I believe there is a gala going on in our name, and I think it would be rude to skip out on the rest of it. So, let us return to it, even if the annoying doppleganger and her boy toys are there with her” Valkyrie said with a smile, as the family smiled and followed after her. Genuinely smiling more in that short time span, than they had in hundreds of years.

The rest of the night had surprisingly went smoothly, with the siblings controlling themselves, knowing their sister was now there, and were more focused on growing closer to her once more. 

Elena, the Salvetore’s, and Caroline had all watched in confusion as the Mikaelsons completely ignored them, in favor or speaking with Val. Caroline was fine with it, knowing why. While Elena was weirdly angry? For some reason. 

After the gala had ended, Val had returned back to her hotel room to get her things, as she planned on moving into the home with the family. Mainly to be closer, but also to make sure Esther doesn’t spike their drinks or anything. Something the siblings kept a close eye on the entire night, making sure to to accidentally drink something she laced with the linking spell. 

The next morning was rather…nice. As the family had a morning breakfast without Esther, eating to their hearts content and happily chatting for the first time in centuries. Telling Valkyrie plenty of stories and bragging of some of their genuinely impressive compliments. Such as Klaus’s improvement in swordsmanship, and art. With his latter works even being in museums in certain places, some very…important art, such as a certain…Mona Lisa. 

Yeah, one of his false identities was Leonardo Da Vinci, it got a lot of shock from Valkyrie as well, even if she didn’t show it. 

At the moment, Val was in front of an unassuming house, listening in as three teens talked upstairs about linking, and Esther. 

‘This is the house alright’ Val thought, as she heard Bonnie talking to Elena about Esther supposedly channeling her family, which was an evident lie. 

Deciding it was enough waiting, she knocked on the door. Waiting or a few moments, she smiled as it opened to reveal a wide eyed trio standing there. 

“Ah, just the witch I was looking for. May I come in?” Val asked the shocked Bonnie who immediately shook her head. 

“I’m not here to hurt you, Bonnie. Nor either of you, especially not the one my twin is infatuated by” Valkyrie said, giving Caroline a small smile. 

“But your a Mikaelson” Elena said, causing Valkyrie to raise an eyebrow. 

“Yes that may be true, but I am also not actually an Original, believe it or not. Simply a…special werewolf is all. Now, can I come in? I have important business with the Bonnie here” Valkyrie said. 

“What sort of business?” Bonnie asked with narrowed eyes. 

“The sort of business that involved your ancestor and the woman who practically raised me, Ayana” Valkyrie responded, causing Bonnie’s eyes to widen in recognition, before sighing and motioning for her to come in. 

“Bonni-” “No Elena, if this involves my ancestor, I need to hear her out. If you’re scared than you’re welcome to leave” Bonnie said, cutting her off from her complaint. 

Elena went silent at this, as they walked into the room. 

“Hmm? Is that burning sage I smell? I believe your using it for the spell create a soundproof barrier, correct?” Valkyrie asked, causing Bonnie’s eyes to widen slightly in surprise before nodding. 

“The spell is done through the smoke itself from the sage, not the sage being burnt. So you must allow it to consistently burn so that the smoke spreads to create the barrier. That is why it didn’t work” Valkyrie said, causing Bonnie to look at her in surprise. 

“Ayana used it sometimes” Valkyrie said with a shrug, before walking into the kitchen and sitting at the dinner table. 

“Thank you” Bonnie said genuinely, as she had been struggling with the spell. 

“No problem, now, as to why I am here” Valkyrie said, before continuing. 

“The Bennett line is the reason as to why I am alive today. And for that continued aid, I believe it is only right to repay them, even if they don’t want me to. So, I will do any three things you ask, so long as it does not harm innocents, my family, is within reason, and does not go against my morals” Valkyrie said, causing Bonnie’s eyes to widen in shock. Elena began to realize the sort of use these…favors could be used for. While Caroline was surprised that a Mikaelson besides Elijah would do such a thing. 

“Why? Why would the Bennett’s help you?” Elena couldn’t help but ask. 

“I’ve got no clue. But I believe it is due to Ayana being my mother in all but blood. Having gone so far as to name me an honorary Bennett long ago. Or perhaps it is the will of nature itself, I do not know. But what I do know, is that I will only give these favors to Bonnie, not you, little doppleganger. So do not even attempt to feed ideas to her, because I will know” Valkyrie said, having already seen through the ideas Elena had. 

“These favors, can-can I use them to help me in magic? I’m…struggling with some of the spells I’m trying to learn, and since you were raised by my ancestor…” Bonnie trailed off. 

“Hmm, I am not exactly an expert in the area, but I most certainly can try” Valkyrie replied after a few moments of thinking. 

“I’d need to read through some of your grimoires to get an idea, though. But that is only with your permission” Valkyrie added, knowing this could be a good chance to learn some genuine magic. 

“That’s fine. I’ve read a lot of them anyways. And the ones I haven’t are way too advanced for the current me” Bonnie said, not opposed to it. As every witch instinct in her body, even her very magic, was urging her to trust what this woman was saying. And her instincts haven’t failed her yet. 

“Bonnie!”

“No Elena, she already said that I am the only one who can decide these favors. And I want to learn magic from someone who can genuinely teach me. She might be a Mikaelson, but I think even you can agree that she’s much more…nice than they usually are” Bonnie replied, causing Elena to frown, while Caroline was trying not to show her smile. 

‘Perhaps wrenching Bonnie from Elena will be easier than I thought’ Val thought, pleased. 

“Can I ask, where exactly have you been? We’ve heard of every Mikaelson except you” Caroline asked, causing Valkyrie to smile. 

“My father, Mikael, is to blame for that. Lets just say he put me into a…coma of sorts, that was supported through the magic of the Bennett line, and that…coma lifted a few days ago” Valkyrie responded, causing Caroline to nod, knowing Mikael was…a prick. 

“Why would Mikael wish to kill you?” Bonnie asked. 

“Besides me not being his daughter? It is because I am the only one who could stand up to the man, and defeat him in battle. Did none of my family speak about this?” Valkyrie asked, causing them to shake their heads. 

“You beat Mikael? But isn’t he like…way older?” Caroline asked. 

“I was always adept at the sword, Caroline. I first beat my father when I was around 12 or so, protecting Klaus from his abuse. And after he tried to defeat me and lost within 30 seconds, the man didn’t attempt to harm or battle with me again” Valkyrie responded to the girl, causing Bonnie and Caroline to go silent, while Elena was growing more and more worried for the plan Esther had laid out. As Valkyrie was growing more and more dangerous in her mind. 

“Now, I must go. But whenever you are ready for me to read through your grimoires, tell me, and I will be here, Bonnie. Ah, but only when we are alone. Focus is a big part of magic, afterall” Valkyrie said with a smile, causing Bonnie to nod, before she walked to the front door, and left, pleased with the visit. 

Walking off, Valkyrie only had one thought on her mind at the moment. 

‘That went far better than I was hoping for’

So, for love interests, there are three options to choose from, that being:

Bonnie (Grew more appealing the more I thought about it)

Hayley (Little wolf and potential daughter?)

The other option was introduced to me, and that is Rebekah, but I’m not entirely sure how to feel about that one. 

Katherine will get her own vault fic, with a new oc I plan on creating, based around a certain Spellman. 

Or should I just put Val with Bonnie AND Hayley, and then leave Rebekah for a different vault fic? I’m not opposed to that idea, as two love interests is easily manageable for me. That, and both Bonnie and Hayley deserve better than what they got. Not to mention they’re both hot.
