Movie Mindset Bonus - Interview With Director Lexi Alexander

💯. The fact they haven't had an ep recorded in The Victorville Film Archive is a tragedy. We absolutely need more Hobbit-heads on the pod.

Eamon Short

"Please just let me punch this fucker out" is, by far, the hottest thing ever said on chapo

Eamon Short

One of the worst films about soccer - and there's plenty

Brian Mulligan

Do you have any knowledge of English football fan culture - soccer equivalent of showgirls

Brian Mulligan

Next season on Movie Mindset: Will and Hesse interview Danny Dyer about his time making 'Football Factory'

Savannakhet

Incredible interview. I was crying when she started going in on Stancil.

Zach G

Fucking love Lexi. I inadvertently got on her bad side on Twitter one time and it genuinely ruined my day. Lol

Tim

Lexi blocked me for RT’ing Felix making fun of gamergate.

Jerry Hernandez

Why on earth have they not had Greg Turkington as a guest

Jameson Green

To clarify I dont have judgement or anger towards Will or Hesse as they would have had no way of knowing my experience and they were excited to speak with someone who made films they love. As shabd said it just hurts seeing a shitty old boss pop up on my favorite leftist podcast.

Alex

I can back up Alex’s story. He’s my oldest friend and I recall him telling this story at the time. He’s a hardworking talented filmmaking pro with decades of experience. The system is fucked but there are many directors he has worked for with similar constraints that chose staff safety. Sad to see supposed leftists pulling for the boss over the worker just cause they’re on your progrum. I don’t think chapo is bad for plat forming her because they don’t have this info nor are the regulators of the isssue - and also can’t folks see how fucked it must feel when Alex, as a leftist production pro, has a shitty boss being lauded on your favorite show?

Shabd

I wasn't familiar with Lexi or her movies and enjoyed the interview.

Eric Gilbertson

She should come to Mpls and campaign for Omar Fateh - very good chance she would get to confront Will Stancil.

A Loon

i would never have guessed will stancil lmao

luffa

What did she do to put you in danger? Not to minimize your trauma, but what is the accusation of danger?

ERIC

Will stancil omfg I’m screaming

Mosie

I’m sorry to hear that Ms Alexander mistreated workers on the set, because I’ve always loved her films, and this was a great and insightful interview.

John Harwood

What a fascinating interview, great as always!

Dongo

Never in a million years did I think Green Street would be discussed on this show. One of my favourite movies growing up

Sam D

ask Lexi about it Will if you have her on again so she can at minimum apologize to the crew. It was in 2012 at LA Center Studios. Bill Bellamy and Rene Auberjonois were in the cast and Bob Finley III was the DP. Tony Valenzuela was a producer.

Alex

Well now that there’s an unsourced Patreon comment out there, I’m sure Mr. Chapo will know not to “platform” this “known abuser” in the future.

J.P. McD.

I once key gripped a 24 hr day for Lexi as director for a Google funded web short that was never released and her poor communication, terrible planning, incompetence, and indecision put every worker on that set in danger. She deserves to never work again in film or television for her ineptitude and disrespect to technicians and I am disappointed to see Chapo platforming her.

Alex

Systema??? Gotta be trolling

David

I want to see Lexi take Will Stancil to the octagon

KyleMSherry

Lexi is Gen X excellence. Please have her on more often.

Siddhartha

Green Street was like my first movie mindset film. I became one of those weird midwestern premier league followers because of that fucking movie. Such a great interview

Seth

Also, From growing up in Ireland, more so than Communist or fascist, you pick you're teams (in my family's case, Celtic and Man U) on weather you're catholic or protestant. EDIT: ah she made that point a minute later.

Eamon Short

Mindset? Movies! Dudes? Rocking! GO? LETS! (BTW Punisher Warzone low-key rocks cock, so stoked to see its Movie Mindset approved) Titus Pullo and McNulty are having the time of their fucking life in that movie. - And it goes without saying, GSH rules - I think Lexi Alexander would have been a great director for episodes of the sadly cancelled 'Warrior' - based on the writings of Bruce Lee - or 'Gangs of London' really any action focused show, would have loved her to have an ep on 'Banshee' or 'Into the Badlands'. Her talent is better than S.W.A.T, Taken (the show) or 'American Gothic' deserve. Also, talking women in action, cynthia rothrock would be a great guest, and she's goes on a whole bunch of podcasts. Her appearance on Scott Adkins's (the fucking GOAT) Podcast is great.

Eamon Short

been following Lexi's work for a while but I don't think I've ever heard her voice until today, what a fun and insightful interview and she's right, why DID the Libyans turn up in BTTF

Declan Kennedy

Siiiiccckkk

Aromal Ray Donovan

Oh my god one of my fav humans on my fav podcast that’s fucked my early night (UK time)

David Hughes

Lexi did make the best Punisher movie possible. Leaning hard into the insane level of violence.

Zach H.

the original UK title is Green Street

Josh Jacques

Oh hell yeah!

Darryn Bruce

(It’s called Green Street Hooligans, not Green Street)
