Movie Mindset Schedule, Part 2

Here's our lineup for the second half of Movie Mindset season 1. Hope everyone following along is enjoying the lineup Will & Hesse have curated. For future installments we might add some info about where the films are available for streaming/viewing, but also we trust you all to manage your own media hunting.

As for future programming, we've discussed doing a little run of horror Movie Mindset in the fall, as well as future full seasons late this year or early next. So, feel free to drop any requests or suggestions in the comments here.

See you at the movies!

I would like to suggest a Warren Oates special. That way you can discuss two of my favourite films: two lane blacktop and Bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia! 😬

viren sharma

Bound!

Shauna Seroquel

absolutely loving the series. wonderful balance of genres, eras, themes, etc., and an even better balance btw movies i love and movies i've never seen horror movie mindset would be killer <3

g haslam

Absolutely should do a Haneke episode. Hell could do a couple episodes as theres a lot to talk about with his work.

Greg Forsyth

I said it once and I'll say it again, Haneke, 7th continent

Aardvark 4corn

Would love to see a Michael Mann double bill

Nate Bridges

it would be so cool if u did an episode on alexander payne (nebraska and election), the wachowski sisters (speed racer and bound), and cronenberg (crash and a history of violence, but honestly they all rule so u can't go wrong)

Siobhan Killeen

You should do a double on post 9/11 Spike. 25th Hour & She Hate Me. Please please please. For horror, Texas Chainsaw Massacre is an absolute must.

William Evans

Do a 90s or chick flick theme episode, also holiday editions is a good idea

LG

I am sooo excited to hear you talk about Kiyoshi Kurosawa. Between Cure and Mccabe and Mrs. Miller, you'll have covered two of my (private non-objective) top 5, so you guys are really hitting on all my lonely obsessions. BTW, if you haven't seen Wife of a Spy, please do! It's Kurosawa's best movie in years.

Brad Plumb

Werner Herzog - The Actor ...?

Jack Hume

Coen brothers ep please and thank u

Christian Hartman

Recently I haven’t but now feel like should.

Boxcar Neil

I watched it every year on 70mm 2015-2019, it’s incredible. He is a fascinating fun character and it’s so great watching him cook, and be willingly manipulated in service to his messiah complex

J.P. McD.

I'd fucking love to see a Toxic Avenger movie mindset epside.

SaintVitus

Yes. Never seen any of it and heard of it on some doc series about cinema, but the Tokyo Story or whatever just sounded like a masterpiece. I need to watch it, or just listen to commentary on it.

DS

Have you tried watching it recently? Kinda painful I thought, besides some of the cinematography

Peter T.

Interested on seeing you do “Lawerence of Arabia” touching on empire and doing just a wee bit of the history.

Boxcar Neil

A classic japanese cinema trilogy, Mizoguchi's Street of shame, A Kurosawa (any film honestly), and Ozu's Late spring would be amazing.

Hampus Bystrom

stay tuned for this Wednesday...

Will Menaker

Herzog- Kinski double feature would be really nice (the nature of their relationship was very chaotic and creative at the same time): Aguirre & Fitzcarraldo!

Fredy Garcia

Ozu with Bresson and Dreyer. Then you have the Trinity of "Transcendental Style in Film" that Paul Schrader adores.

Fredy Garcia

Anyone else want them to do Ozu or am I just being pretentious?

Daniel Terry

You should consider doing DIRTY HARRY as that propelled Charles Bronson into #VigalanteSuperstardom…especially considering what’s going on now.

Lesley Anne Noelle

I vote for 60"s psychedelic comedies such as "The Magic Christian," "I Love You Alice B Toklas," and the original "Casino Royale."

Julie Baxter

Zizek doesn’t actually watch movies he just rambles about how they present abstracted Lacanian ideological representations that don’t require conscious viewing to be psychologically absorbed

Nick Muscatiello

Would I be forgiven in observing that the movies on the pod seem to mostly be curated by Will? That although Hesse is well versed and an astute contributor, esp w/r/t cinematography and lore, that I’d like to know more about their influences?

Nick Muscatiello

They could get it deep whilst a 70s Criterion joint played at half vol in the background

Nick Muscatiello

Could y'all get Zizek on? He seems sufficiently movie poisoned for the pod.

Id top hesse

J. A.

I just recalled the classic Australian horror/drama, film (though a Canadian director), Wake in Fright, about An English teacher who loses his money gambling and rapidly descends to outback hell.

Tim Holland

Nicolas roeg, amazing

Professor Jokes

Kurasawa the goat

Janie Danger

Horror Queers, go on Chapo

James Burkeen

I'd like to caucus for a Preston Sturges ep, as your series continues. Suggested pairing: THE GREAT MCGINTY and CHRISTMAS IN JULY.

Rohmer Simpson

A Hammer Horror ep would be killer

Layton ONeil

The vast majority of the audience likes movie mindset and also likes banging your mom in the alley behind the porno shop

Smooth Shrek

Loved all of these so far. Knock out some obvious ones, too. Barry Lyndon, Casino, Robocop.

Patreonguy

More Roxy screenings please

Bushwald

Maybe it feels like that, but it does not seem like that, and it is not that. Since MM began, they have delivered 9 regular episodes (presumably the 10th one will post tomorrow) - their regular free episode and their regular Patreon episode - every week, as they have each week for the last 7 years. Since you're not keeping an exact count I went ahead and did that. Also they number their regular eps, so if you take that number and divide by 104 eps you get 7 yearzzzzz blah blah blah. Anyway if you choose to listen to the regular eps & the bonus eps, which again, that's your business, the value of your $ contribution has increased over time.

Rohmer Simpson

I love this show and I hope it keeps coming back ❤️

Tim O'Connor

Panic At Needle Park 💪

you're goofy james. "the audience". ok lol

Rohmer Simpson

it tells you what the audience is thinking, which if you are selling content, you would want to know about

james

i'm not keeping an exact count but doesn't it seem like over the past few months there has been a lot more of the movie and TV episodes and the regular episodes are fewer and further between?

james

oh silly goose

Rohmer Simpson

Did your monthly price go up? Because mine didn't. It's literally free bonus content that you're welcome to ignore.

Alexander Fedderly

Why are you so butthurt by people's opinions?

buttface

People will pay money to go on here and say ooooh nooo I had to scroll past something, my tummy huwts. jog on loser

Rohmer Simpson

That guy posts the same complaint on every movie episode, verbatim. What does that tell you?

Rohmer Simpson

it’s literally a bonus you dweeb

will michel

What have you lost here

Agreed. This movie stuff should be a separate podcast. It's so tedious and self absorbed.

buttface

Are you sure it is "the vast majority?" I didn't hear from you when you were doing your polling. I think this series is great, and I hope it keeps going.

it's cool you guys are into movies and want to make podcasts about them, and it's cool that a subset of the Chapo fans like this content. that's not what the vast majority of your audience pays you for on patreon though. i feel like i am paying you guys to do movie podcasts which i could not care less about.

james

Been enjoying this a lot, a nice break in between all the doom and gloom of current news but still feeling like I’m learning something and not just numbing the brain! Looking forward to watching some of these movies after hearing about them, wasn’t much of an old movie watcher but you guys have converted me lol

Ashe

More movies! More mindset!
