While researching how to implement dynamic morphing in BootyMagic, I figured out something pretty significant, almost a game changer: tracking the average of multiple soft physics joint positions. This is a fantastic way to calculate the breast's current position and drive the dynamic adjustment of morphs.
Currently in v5.1, the position of the nipple rigidbody is what drives morphing. The main issue with this is that changes in breast shape caused by soft physics don't actually change the position of the rigidbody. Visually, the nipple moves but in terms of the rigidbody, it does not. This causes morphing to look more linear than it should.
Another issue that tracking soft joint positions solves is triggering morph changes from anywhere on the skin surface. Since soft joints are located all around skin, changes in their position from collisions and animations have an effect on the average position of all soft joints. This approach has multiple benefits:
- When soft joints are pushed in, morphs immediately take effect to compensate for the lost volume.
- The overall shape of the breast as it changes dynamically from soft physics and morphs can feed back into morph values, making morph changes much more intricate and dynamic.
- The calculated position of the breast changes much more sensitively, even causing oscillation and jiggling that you wouldn't get just with soft physics - it works almost like another layer on top of the existing soft physics.
- It gives way to the possibility of targeting different morph adjustments on different regions of the breast, e.g. different morphs could be applied if the lower breast region moves than if the upper breast region moves. Or if the base of the breast moves vs. if the nipple area moves.
The implementation is pretty far along, but to make it work optimally, adjustments to physics, morphing and colliders still need to be made. I will try to get 5.2 alpha 1 out during the weekend, along with a small demo scene.
In addition to this and other improvements, it's likely that 5.2 or possibly 5.3 will feature an optimization pass to existing morphs - a sort of an intermediate step between the current hodge-podge setup of built-in morphs vs. fully custom morphs.
BootyMagic
Working on TittyMagic 5.2 pushes the first alpha of BootyMagic a bit further, and it will take time to go from alpha to early access public release. I want to slightly temper expectations in the alpha stage, it might not be all that impressive in the first few versions. However, I'm aiming for the first public version of BootyMagic to take advantage of the soft joint position based morphing, and I'm pretty confident that alone will take things to the next level when it comes to butt jiggles in Virt-A-Mate. Although it's not yet clear exactly how much can be done with built-in morphs, the first version will use only built-in morphs.

This plugin's development is on hold while I'm working on TittyMagic 5.2 and BootyMagic 1.0. I will probably return to this when both of those are in early access.
In other news...
Patreon introduced a new billing option called "subscription billing". Like in the current upfront billing, you pay upon joining, but unlike in upfront billing, new patrons get charged monthly on the same date they joined instead of the 1st of every month. Existing patrons still get charged on the 1st of every month. This is perfect for me, and I'll be switching over to this new model around halfway next month!
