However, if you read on influences behind Madara's character it kinda makes sense - people who loose themselves in their desires often loose everything rather suddenly.

2025-09-26 15:36:53 +0000 UTCIf anyone is confused about the twist; spoiler free Kishimoto draws a lot from Japanese, Chinese and Buddhist religion, mythology and folklore. Amaterasu, Izanami and Izanagi, Tsukuyomi, Princess Kaguya, and more are drawn from ancient writings and has been entwined. Tales of Gods and deities have inspired the anime throughout the show, and this twist has been quite subtly hinted at a few times throughout the anime and manga but Kishimoto hasn't directly hinted at Kaguya herself until these last few episodes, but there being a master plan is definitely within the subnotes, Kishomoto being able to hide it whilst dropping tiny hints is absolute insanity. Truly. The biggest giveaway though, which has existed since way past, is Kuro Zetsu's name in and of itself, which translates literally to "Despair, annihilation, wicked tongue" and meanings of that nature. I suggest following the trail if you've finished Shippuden!
