Today I want to take you behind the scenes of the redrawing process for Volume 5, from Toyotaro’s original drafts to the final version presented by our commissioned artist Rogeru.
As many of you may know, the drafts for Volume 5 were published online by Toyble (Toyotaro) when he began his official career with Shueisha in year 2013, leaving this volume incomplete and unpublished.
The goal of the project was to reconstruct Toyotaro’s original visual intent with cleaner lines and stylistic coherence closer to his mature style, while having Rogeru complete the inking of the pages with the support of fans.
This process involved analyzing the layouts and composition of the original drafts, and having Rogeru faithfully redraw them in Toyotaro’s art style. Here are some comparisons!
