I know this is a really old post but I feel compelled to comment that we live in a tiny mountain town in the Southeast and I don't even know where my house key is. We haven't locked our doors in the 12 years we've been here. It happens.

2024-04-13 18:37:16 +0000 UTCIt wasnβt until about three or four years ago that people really started locking their doors in this country outside of major urban developments. Still to this day in many small towns, nobody locks their doors. There really is in real life that small town where everybody knows everybody and nobody locks, their doors and people leave the porch light on. Because of the rising crime rate and other issues caused by political figures like that are becoming rarer and rare, but they still do exist to this day. At the time when the show was created? That was literally every town outside of downtown cities.
