I'm alive! and an update :)

Hi Guys!

Thank you so much to everyone who offered kind words after I was knocked out by a migraine yesterday - it really meant a lot :)

But! I am now back in action and offering a photo I took...pre migraine 😂 but a little update too.

So these are some test tiles for the water tiles I'm working on (notice I didnt say something specific like 'river' or 'lake' or 'coast' 😉). The idea is that they connect side to side much like hill tiles/mountainblocks and line up using a template.

For water depth, I know this was a concern for some of you which is why I've made two templates, one main one that goes 3/4" deep (pictured) and another that levels off sharper at the bottom and only goes 1/2" deep (bascically flattening out the middle).

An important thing to bear in mind though, is that though this is 3/4" deep, the AVERAGE depth is only 1/2", because it slopes :)

I decided to go this deep for the main edge tiles to allow for cool features UNDER the water but still visible, things like skeletons and skulls, lost weapons, swimming fish, even perhaps a glinting crown, half buried in the riverbed...

and those are just the basics for a 'normal' river. This system is designed to allow for switching aspects out to make the river more...unnatural with future additions 😉

You can probably also see the river is split down the middle - this is intentional and gives a TON more modular options that I think are more than worth the mid-tile split - especially given that there will be splits anyway, because its modular 😄

Anyway, that's enough teasing for now and hopefully enough to give you guys a better idea of what's coming! I'm really excited about the possibilities for this project and I cannot wait to show you more - Today I spend quite a while designing some ideal templates for the river curves to make them look 'just right' and save you guys drawing them yourselves unless you really wanted to!

Tomorrow will be experimenting with new methods for using resin and getting the best results I can. Advice I can then pass on to you guys 😁
