Book 1 Cover Process
Added 2024-07-22 22:56:12 +0000 UTCI actually had a lot of trouble with this first cover. There was a lot of back and forth with me and the team at Ten Speed. I was in a rut at the time so that didn’t help matters but the main issue was the first idea we came up with.
It was an illustration where kappa was caught up in a big torrent of fish and it was really cool but it had too much going on and looked very cluttered.
After two attempts of me trying to make it work the team sent me a mock up of a new idea that was more focused on just Kappa and the castle. While I struggled for several weeks with the last idea and became very frustrated, I was actually able to get the new idea finished in just a few days. It really goes to show just how important your initial concept sketch is haha.
I’m very happy with the way the final cover looks and I thought it would be cool to show all the initial idea sketches and share this process ;)
