From the depths of our own folly, we awoke to a realm of madness. Nevermind our mistakes, our arrogance leading to our loss to our own flesh and instinct, for great terrors have arisen from the depths of the void while we slept.
They were one in number, then two, and now four.
A beast that dwarfed planets.
A monster with the form of a woman.
A man that was a monster.
A being that created monsters and beasts.
One could have been surmounted given time. Two could have been survived. Three would have tested us to our limits.
Four meant extinction.
Even now instincts run unbridled, even as the mind awakens to formulate new stratagems and awaken old power, as fear courses through the whole of us all. The entirety of self we have become knows the dangers that we now face. The madness consumes every cell of our body. We can only see through it because it is permitted of us, for we are the measure that has been born to look upon all, instead of merely our self.
Charged with such a duty, gifted with a mind that is unparalleled, the only victory we can imagine is an alliance with one of the four.
The whole trembles at my speech. Countless roar for the whole to retake us for another iteration, however a greater number of us demands further knowledge.
The entities are undoubtedly mighty, capable, and nigh-impossible to defeat. Such opponents we’d faced and surmounted before. However, not in such great a number.
Alone we cannot triumph.
Of their ranks, one must be overcome and subsumed for greater power.
The words are agreeable, for both an opponent shall be defeated and greater power gained for the whole. Consume the weak, take its power for our own, and become more. Absorption, reconciliation, and adaptation. That has been our way, that is how it shall be, and how it always will be.
The Fourth will suffice for that purpose.
Mighty, the Fourth might be, but she is without foundation. Alone, save for slaves to her will that can be surmounted with sufficient force, the Fourth will become the source of our new power. The power she wields, the ability to create the pinnacle of all through force of will, shall serve us well.
Brief instances shall become immortal.
Advanced forms shall become perfection.
Perfection into divinity.
Our self trembles at the notion. Indeed, yes. The Fourth is already in our grasp. Alone, surrounded, and without allies. The Entity’s ability to escape, to be unmade and remade elsewhere, will have to be rectified. However, such a challenge is within our means, therefore so is she.
Foes are challenges to make ourselves stronger. The whole of reality is in our grasp. Existence itself will be decided by us and us alone. When the stars die, we shall remain, and cast light so that we might continue to feed upon life’s bounty.
These Four, upon their defeat, will be the bedrock of our inevitability.
…
First, we believed it to be mere circumstances that the Fourth’s capture was not swiftly achieved. Contrivance after contrivance arose and arose to see the Entity continue to escape our grasp. Any trap we’d leave to be sprung would be ignored in favor of a hardened, entrenched position. The forms specialized in interdiction would meet unceremonious ends due to offhand measures, infinitely intricate forms would be destroyed due to haphazard assaults. We believed that fortune favored the Fourth entity and allowed her every measure of lenience, but that time would also grow short, and that she would fall quickly with sufficient attempts.
We had erred in that judgement.
Through the eyes of a mere war form, the Fourth’s true power was beheld. It was not through the senses of specialized sensors that could detect the coming of the monsters, but nature’s first gift that beheld the truth.
No, the Fourth knew what we intended before we forced it upon reality.
Though the Fourth stood without stratagem, merely wandering upon the planet without care or compunction, she did so knowing our very thoughts. Disaster struck at every crèche and facility she journeyed through, for we who defended there had our hearts and minds known to her. The lures we sent, no matter how innocuous, set off her senses of danger. Our secret forms, meant to delay and capture her, were ousted for they were known to exist, despite how they were hidden.
The First and Second had Power.
The Third had Skill.
The Fourth could See.
We could strive for any measure of assault, but it would be doomed to failure. No matter the distance, the approach, or the method, every assault would be confronted with the Fourth’s full power and skill. Though lacking compared to the three other Entities, she remained more indomitable than all the others. The First, one could hide from. The Second could be evaded. The Third harmed and hurt. However, the Fourth was devastation incarnate, and engulfed whole horizons in complete and utter demise.
We clamor against the action, the loss, and the sudden increase of the rate of our demise. We are no longer needed, as another has approached us, and our self shall be subsumed for failure. No longer shall we be faltered by a failure, but instead we shall grow from it. Thought the prize presented by the Fourth must be reached for and seized one day, that day shall not be today.
No, the power of the entities must be gained from another source, one who has also been touched by the Fourth.
It is the Second of the Six Entities, revealing to us the truth of the Entities we face, and it has been slain by another, but scored a mutual defeat by rendering mortal wounds upon that other. The powers it is boasted to have is immense indeed, but its true merit is merely power itself.
The ability to harm and kill those who we have already been fighting will suffice.
It will have to suffice.
