Weekly report + slight release change
Added 2022-04-23 22:57:43 +0000 UTCI'm currently working on the third and last phase of Aisha's fight. I really wanted to get it done by this week, but today I've been "kidnapped" by familiar responsibilities, so it hasn't been a very productive Saturday. And it seems like Sunday it's gonna be the same.
As promised, there will be a release the next weekend, but probably I'll just have time to finish the fight and not much more.
That kept me thinking about the monthly release commitment that I have, and, for your sake, for mine, and the game's, I've been thinking about slightly changing it.
TL;DR: Due to the complexity of the game, and for the project's health, after the next week's release, I'll change the monthly releases to monthly Alpha releases.
There's a saying I conveniently heard yesterday: "Most failures come from wanting to rush the time of the successes", and I think this saying applies perfectly to this project.
In these four months, there have been far more people playing this game than I expected, so for me, it's been a huge success! Which makes me want to keep improving it and I'm very motivated to do so. I want to keep a good impression and game experience to those who play it, which is why, after this next update, the monthly releases will become monthly Alpha releases.
For those who are unfamiliar with the term, it means that I'll keep posting monthly updates since I see it as a good way to keep my supporters updated on how the process is going so far, and also to get feedback. But these updates will be in an "experimental" phase, meaning that stuff like missing scenes, bugs, crashes, etc are expected. In fact, I'll need you guys to test it so I can polish all the details and possible bugs before releasing the public update. So as you might guess, the Alpha release won't be available to the public the week after like the regular release (unless it's leaked, of course).
I'm truly sorry for making these changes. As you know, I'm quite a newbie when it comes to game development, so there are lots of mistakes that I've made and lots of stuff that I couldn't know until I got fully immersed in the project, and I hope these changes aren't seen as a negative thing, but quite the opposite! Since my main objective is for this game to be played and enjoyed by as many people as possible, but to do so, I have to be realistic with the amount of time I have, the content that I can make in a month, and my personal life.
Oh, and I hope it comes without saying, but this doesn't mean that I'll slow down the development or that I'll take it easy from now on, it's just a change in the delivery of the updates.
Thanks for understanding! I'll make the proper changes on the main page by the next week. For now, back to work with Aisha's fight! Cheers!
