To Love-Ru Video Update #4: Cat Edition (and also video editing I guess)

Hi y'all! I hope you're all doing as well as you can.

It's been a bit since I posted an update, and there's a few reasons why.

First, as the title and image of this post makes clear: my husband and I have two cats now! Their names are Amina and Polônio, and they're absolute gremlins (as expected of six month old cats) that we've been spending a lot of time with to help them warm up to the home. They got used to things much, much faster than either of us expected honestly - today marks a week since we adopted them, and they act like they own the place. They're also confident enough that I'm not constantly terrified of them hurting themselves anymore, which means I can actually relax and focus on things.

It genuinely feels amazing to have pets in the home again. I haven't had one since I moved out from the US, and I forgot just how much of a difference they can make for your mental health. It feels nice to have little goblins running around in the background, who run up to you and soak up attention the second you're off of work, and scream at 5AM because you're -30 minutes late to their feeding time. God bless those critters.

Second, I have done my national language exam for citizenship! I had to take a few days off for this since it's in another city, and it lasts the entire day. I got to the capital of this state (where my test site was) late on Monday and did the test throughout Tuesday, spending the time in-between wandering around and stumbling into shops. Outside of meeting with a friend (which was wonderful) and finding a few cool shops, it wasn't too remarkable of a trip since I spent most of it being stressed out. I don't really like big cities, and the 2025/02 CELPE-BRAS test was bizarrely harder than any of the dozen ones I simulated as practice with my Portuguese teacher. No clue how well I did, we'll find that out in December.

Third and final, this video is just taking a... lot of effort to produce.

I genuinely forget how difficult it is to edit videos about manga since I haven't done one in a very long time. At this point, about 45 minutes out of 2 hours 30 minutes are completed, and my pace is all over, ranging from 5 to 15 minutes per day. I'm hopeful I can have it done by early November, but man, trying to sift through 7000+ pages of manga to find one appropriate page or panel for a sentence over and over and over again is hard, even with tools to do things like display a random set of images and apply tags to them.

I'll definitely choose something less challenging to edit for the next video. Like, I can't deny I'm having a lot of fun with this, and I'm also very happy this video is forcing me to experiment with new stylistic choices and refine my editing chops... buuuuut I need something easier to throw together on the editing front next time. Probably another VN, because like I've been saying, some BL or otome game sounds nice right about now. I love boobs, but I have been looking at a lot of boobs lately and I need some strong guys. Or weak guys. Guys can be pathetic too, it's hot.

Also, thank you to everyone who gave feedback about the Q&A section! I'll continue integrating them into the regular Patreon breaks in the videos since y'all seem to enjoy that.
