Looking for City Suggestions!

Hey everyone!

In case you don't know, there's an #inspo-and-requests channel on our Discord where you can suggest ideas for us to cover with future cities.

We've already planned out cities #2 and #3 but we'd like to build future cities with patron suggestions and polls, so if you have a city in your world that you'd like us to use as inspiration, or a favourite real world city, or even a specific culture or race you'd like us to explore, let us know about it!

If you don't use Discord you can also drop ideas in the comments below. :)

And for those that haven't seen it yet, the Meddenfirth music is now available on all your favourite streaming sites, check it out here: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/boroughbound/meddenfirth

would love to see a city from the hells

Chef Scott

A dark fairy tale/ evil Disney city.

Chris Lontok

I would love to see you take on a steampunk/Victorian styled city

Jack Brinkley

Canal cities like Venice, Wintery cities, cities organized into ring structures

Chris Clarke

Desert cities Floating island cities A city hidden underwater in the middle of a giant lake A city built into the side of a cliff, maybe even in the middle of a canyon, having bridges connecting both sides of the city.

Interior maps are definitely a priority of ours! We're still trying to figure out the best way to balance workloads, but in all likelihood we will be bringing on an additional map maker to help out with interior maps soon!

Borough Bound

I think the city map so far is great.. I think it would be made fantastic if there was a matching map showing interior levels/basements/sewers as well.

Forgot how commenting in Patreon works, sorry. 1. A stone city in a cold place would be cool. 2. I'd love to see your take on a feudal Japan/ ancient Eastern city. 3. A city focused on trades of different kinds, different sections of the city focusing on different items (Ex. Jewelry, Adventuring Gear, and Carpentry for instance) 4. Final thing I can think of would be a desert city, similar to what some others have mentioned. But as well as an Arabian themed or thriving city, perhaps a barbaric city made of crude sandstone and bones would be cool too. Like a lawless city in the middle of the barren wasteland kind of thing.

Made a quick list of some city ideas I'd love to see:

Burton J George

That or some sort of eldritch city.

I like the idea of some sort of esoteric city with some sort of unique "weirdness" to it. I know that's hard to define but something like the bizarreness of Salt-in-Wound, or a city powered by black magic... but everyone is just used to it and use it very mundane ways. I like the idea of something traditionally evil "redefined" into something much more practical and neutral.

Ben C

This one, definitely!

How about a great library city? Everything could be themed around writing and stories. Markets selling scrolls, notes, peoples diaries. Blackmarkets trading in written secrets. Piles of bookshops, papermakers, book binders, tablet carvers and ink workshops. Everyone trades in some form of information.

Kavalyr

Honestly this would be amazing and so unique, I second it

How about a classic: A dwarven hold delving into the mountainside. It could start with the gates, and the go on through into the galleries beyond where you'd find markets, musteryards and perhaps a mushroom farm. Then you could find the deep forges fired by geothermal vents and perhaps even a dwarven boathouse / hotspring fed by the same. Another part could be the palace or a mighty vault perhaps. You could maybe do this one more vertically, with the maps layered above each other rather than in a row or branching out which could be fun. For multiple versions of it I'd again suggest a classic. Dwarven city thriving, and dwavrn city ruined with space for a big red dragon to be lairing within. Then you could play the fall and reclamation, or maybe the players could fight the dragon and later the city is rebuilt and welcomes them as heroes. Just some thoughts.

Unwated Arcana

A city built along a mountain pass, perhaps the only mountain pass for several weeks of travel through these traitorous peaks (perhaps the lords of the city go so far as to employ wizards to collapse the other passes and bandits to plague them) so as to channel trade through its gates. A long, winding city snaking its way through the peaks, packed with dens of vice and other amusements to strip the passing caravans of their coming. Look guys. I have a bridge city in my setting you just made a perfect representation of. I'm going to suggest the others.

Unwated Arcana

I would *love* to see a sort of Candy Land city. All gingerbread, and frosting, and sprinkles. I haven't been able to find anything even close to that, and it would make an amazing campaign setting.

The Gold Family

(The name of the city is Rocamadour.) I would also like a city in a ravine, maybe this idea can also be combined with the airship-heavy setting suggested earlier.

Farouche

A floating pirate city built out of shipwrecks

Alex Whitehurst

I would like to echo the requests of previous commenters (Ogo Sylla, Mark Smith, and Erica Lea) and add one of my own: 1. Desert/Arabian cities (specifically, I would LOVE something based on Samarkand) 2. Underground Dwarven city 3. High steppes capital city of the Khan of Khans (based on Mongol Ghengis Khan’s capital of Karakorum) Thanks!!!

Jeremy Suiter

Complete Dwarven underground city. Please. I need this... LOL

Erica Lea

Gonna do a quick plug for Will's Arkus setting. The whole world is on giant trees. It's not as in-depth or detailed as Borough Bound's content, but if you like big tree cities, there is definitely plenty of that: Part 1: https://www.patreon.com/posts/arkus-campaign-39245245 Part 2: https://www.patreon.com/posts/arkus-epiphytic-47590379 Also: yes, giant tree settings are something we've already had requested a couple times. It's certainly on our radar!

Borough Bound

A city build inside a ravine, or an old quarry would be rad. The visual design of entire cities build into mountain sides/cliffs is very cool. Real life inspiration for that could be the city Rocamandour where a fragment of the legendary Sword Durendal is lodged into the rock.

Tuz-oh

I would also love to see a city built on trees (maybe gigantic trees, who knows)

Vhektor

Would love to see a airship heavy plateau based city. Something sitting atop a column of tall rock jutting out of the landscape.

Kackman

Would love some desert and Egyptian or Arabian themed cities!

Mark Smith

Would love to see a Desert city/outpost!

Ogo Sylla
