Nulvarith 03 - Unsealed

This is not your jurisdiction, asshole

Welcome back to Nulvarith everyone! We've got some great content for you in this one: three massive interior maps, some crazy tie-in lore for LIMINA campaigns, and a map that will truly challenge your players in tactical combat. Before we dive in, however...

PLEASE SEND US YOUR BOROUGH REQUESTS! We'll be running a poll soon to determine what sort of setting we'll craft once we're done building Demlin (the winner of the recent Svarnahelm district request poll). You can drop the borough requests in our Discord or just post in the comments of this post. Make sure your request can be summarized in just a few words, and please: no licensed materials. Much as we might like, we can't do Star Wars / Lord of the Rings / Zelda stuff.

Borough Guide

This borough guide is all about the LIMINA contingent in Nulvarith. Two agents have been deployed to the shattered realm, and they are decidedly not fond of another. Returning wayfinder Nanni Ya-Faen (who might just be our most commonly referenced NPC across our boroughs) has flown The Echowake to Nulvarith so that she can study how this world could have been destroyed. Agent Ondell Pinsk, on the other hand, has far more dramatic aims. An anthology-style plot hook gives you plenty of options to send your players out on tasks throughout Nulvarith on behalf of different factions.

NOTE: If you are running LIMINA-centric campaigns, you will really want to read this borough guide. There are a few big reveals that will likely transform how you present LIMINA throughout your adventures!

Maps

This map has the most "negative space" of any of our Nulvarith maps, giving your players plenty of opportunities to fly about the open abyss or knock foes down to the planetary core. The Echowake is parked in the background, and Agent Pinsk has a humble tent to serve as his base of operations. A handful of unharvested crystals speaks to the Wingroot League's reluctance to approach the LIMINA agents. As with all of our Nulvarith releases, we have the following map variants available: Dark, Desert, Underwater, Storm, Storm Aftermath, Spooky, and Asteroid (aka "non-magical space").

Our interior map this week is LARGE. We've got three levels of mines for your players to explore. These maps line up perfectly with the entrance in Nulvarith 02. This will likely be where your players tackle much of their dungeoneering and combat. As always, our interior maps are only available to our Chief Courier tier patrons.

Music

It's been a minute since we've had some bona fide bad-ass combat music. Destabilizers rectifies that! This is aggressive and chaotic music for tense battles against dogged and tactical foes. I won't spoil who exactly those foes are, but you'll know it if you read the doc! Regardless, this is great music for any and all tense skirmishes or boss battles.

Our "variant" track today is technically a riff on some of the harmonies and themes from Destabilizers, but it really felt like its own thing. As such, it gets its own name. A Thankless Job is plodding and sci-fi adjacent. Put this on as your players are investigating, chatting with untrustworthy NPCs, or considering the best way forward in uncertain locales.

Comments

We've gotten one request for "ragtime bayou sewer city" back in 2022, but this is the first time anyone has requested anything bayou-related since then!

I would love to see your take of a sci-fi camp or station.
