Poll: Do you like Roguelite genre?

Everyday I think about how to improve our game. There are tons of ways certainly, but to fulfill the main three requirements (fitting with our world setting, fitting with strategic gameplay, and fitting with our player base), it helps us to narrow down to our choices.

Help me understand more about you!

Simply put: Do you like Roguelike type of games?

Comments

It seems to me that "RogueLIKE" has become kind of a buzzword and is used very wrong in many cases. Not a lot of people use or even know the more correct "Roguelite", so props for that. That said, Roguelite designates a genre that has experienced a big hype in last few years typically used by low-budget (which does not correspond to low quality, mind you) productions characterized heavily by three factors: 1. procedurally generated maps/areas that change with every attempt 2. dying in the early phases of the game (first few dozen runs), a lot 3. scavenging a little bit of progress with each death, making subsequent attempts just that little bit easier each time I can not imagine how any of these mechanics would benefit TT at this stage of development. Maybe a meta-Skilltree that gives you permanent bonuses after every "run" of TT, but if that means after every 365 Days, it would make the cycles way too long.

I actually wouldn't mind a change of direction, honestly I sort of lose interest on the overworld and turn based aspects of the game. I would much rather have some RPG stuff sprinkled in there. I would also recommend a switch to an actual game engine more suitable for a big project. The animations are ofc great, otherwise Flash seems to be a limiting factor. Sorry for my frankness;)

I know this has been asked a thousand times but how do you save?

Thanks for liking it^^ I don't plan to revamp the game, it is merely a survey for say the level design. Maybe I should use the word Roguelite instead.

We do have characters (Lilith and monsters)^^ As to benefits, well the goal is to make the game more enjoyable. Perhaps Roguelite is more appropriate for us.

Yes, I like roguelikes - but I also like that this is the only adult strategy game out there. Maybe polish up on that instead of switching things up already

Right now no firm design. I need to know more what strategic/adultish players like first before spending more time to digg deeper. It means nothing for me to come up with all these mechanics in my head when I don't even know my own players.

It's not complicated at all. It's simply the question "do you like roguelike games". At this point it's nothing more than just that.

Where would you place the rouge-like elements? Would it be for exploring regions and finding supplies or tentacles? Maybe it can help with organizing the home gardens by forcing the player to focus on creating environments to house their creatures. Also of note after about 5 creatures it gets hard to keep them in content status with so limited amount of turns. Would adding these new elements help in managing your army or would it enhance some other aspect of the game?

While I do love rogue-like games, I like them when they are rpgs where you get invested in a character. Tentacles Thrive is a strategy game is a strategy game, so it seems like adding rogue-like elements might just cause you to lose progress without any benefit.

Wow The Wizard. This is a rather complicated question.... The whole point is what is considered a genre? What would you like to learn from it in the game with Lilith? If you can tell us and list the mechanics that you are going to include in the game-then I can answer you. But in General I like it. But again, you will only have my answer after you tell me what genre you want to add.
